The highest peak in mass spectrometric analysis: 752 in the case of free carboxylic acid thereof. UV absorption spectrum has no characteristic patterns. IR absorption spectrum (in KBr): 700, 745, 790, 825 cm-1 etc. Insoluble in water; soluble in ether, ethyl acetate, etc. Color reaction: positive to iodine, etc.; negative to ninhydrin.
