【従来の技術】リテーナ付きコネクタには、一般に、サ
イドリテーナタイプ(実開平6−58570号公報参
照)と、フロントリテーナタイプ(実開平5−2345
5号公報、特開平8−250215号公報参照)とがあ
る。サイドリテーナタイプは、図11に示すように、コ
ネクタハウジング1に端子金具2を挿入する方向と直交
する方向にリテーナ3が装着されるもので、そのために
リテーナ挿入孔4がコネクタハウジング1の側面に開放
されている。このタイプは、図12に示すように、リテ
ーナ3が端子金具2に直接に係止するので、端子金具の
保持力が高いという利点がある。一方、フロントリテー
ナタイプは、図13に示すように、端子金具2の挿入方
向に沿ってリテーナ5がコネクタハウジング6に挿入さ
れ、そのためのリテーナ挿入孔7が相手コネクタとの嵌
合面に開放されている。このタイプは、リテーナ挿入孔
7が相手コネクタによって覆われて外部に露出しないと
いう利点がある。

が前記端子金具を抜け止めする位置へと前記リテーナを
シフトさせる案内部を設けたことを特徴とするリテーナ
付きコネクタ。
