2. Description of the Related Art There has been known a technique in which a simple packaging box having a double-walled peripheral wall can be folded up simply by folding one sheet of paperboard having folds or cuts at predetermined locations. The above-mentioned paperboard has a form in which four side walls provided with folds that fold inward toward the inside of the box are provided on four sides of a square bottom piece. At one side end of each of the pair of side wall pieces adjacent to each other at right angles, an insertion piece to be inserted and fitted into the double wall gap at the other side end is continuously provided.

The procedure for folding up the tray A2 from the cardboard 102 is substantially the same as that for the tray A1. This procedure is shown in FIGS. As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, when folding the inner wall surfaces 4, 4 in the vertical direction in FIG. 8 onto the wall surface 2, the overlapping pieces 15 are superimposed on the corner reinforcing pieces 9 on both side ends thereof. Thereby, the structural strength of the four corners of the tray A2 can be further increased.

FIGS. 15 to 21 show a tray A3 according to a third embodiment. This tray A3, which is folded from one piece of corrugated cardboard 103 shown in FIGS. 15 and 16 into the form shown in FIG. 21, is different from the tray A2 of the second embodiment in that one set in the vertical direction in FIG. Bottom 1 on inner wall surfaces 4 and 4
The inner bottom surface 19 that reinforces is provided at each of the folds J. At both ends of the inner bottom surface 19, corner reinforcing pieces 20 are continuously provided via folds K. Reference numeral 21 denotes a notch for avoiding interference with the insertion hole 7 provided on the bottom surface 1.

The procedure for folding up the tray A3 from the cardboard 103 is as shown in FIGS. 17 to 21 and is the same as that for the tray A2, so that the description is omitted. As shown in FIG. 21, an inner bottom surface 19 is superimposed on the bottom surface 1 of the folded tray A3, and the load of the article applied to the inner bottom surface 19 is received by the corner reinforcing pieces 20 connected to both side ends thereof. The corner reinforcing pieces 20 further reinforce the four corners of the tray.

As is apparent from the above description, the cardboard tray of the present invention has excellent practical effects as listed below. (A) Compared with a conventional paperboard packaging box having a double-walled peripheral wall, the packaging strength is remarkably excellent and the cushioning property is also excellent. (B) Therefore, it is packed with fairly heavy items, such as fruits and vegetables, and can be used with sufficient reliability in uses that may be handled roughly at the distribution stage. (C) A large number of trays can be stably stacked. (D) After use, it can be easily and quickly deployed on a single, non-bulky cardboard box. (E) Design changes can be easily and freely made to obtain reasonable structural strength with no excess or deficiency for the purpose of use.
