Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bookbinding treatment apparatus which reduces costs, does not require an excess space, and cuts time necessary for bookbinding treatment. SOLUTION: Each sheet of a paper bundle 2 printed by a printing machine 1 is transferred the bookbinding treatment part 60 of a bookbinding machine 20 through the upper side transportation route of a paper transportation route 4 common to the paper bundle and a cover. After that, with a paste tank 51 and a milling machine 41 moved downward, the paper bundle 2 is transferred by route B and held by clampers 31, 32 in a bookbinding starting part 30 to be in a waiting state. Next, the cover is subjected to printing by the printing machine 1 and transferred to the bookbinding treatment part 60 of the bookbinding machine 20 through the lower side transportation route of the paper transportation route 4. The paper bundle 2 is transferred in the C direction to be sized on the back and combined with the cover 3 in the bookbinding treatment part 60 for cover attachment treatment.

2. Description of the Related Art Generally, a printing machine or the like (copier) prints a required number of copies for each same page. When a sheet bundle printed for each page is collated by a collating machine to form a sheet bundle for each book, and the sheet bundle is bound, a bookbinding machine or a paper binding machine is provided for the sheet bundle. The paper is transported to a position, and is appropriately bound by a bookbinding machine or a paper binding machine. Generally, a sheet bundle of one book is bound by a bookbinding machine for a thick sheet bundle, and a sheet bundle of a relatively thin sheet is bound by a sheet binding machine.

FIG. 3 is a schematic configuration diagram showing a conventional example of a series of steps for connecting a bookbinding machine to a printing machine and performing processing from printing to binding of a sheet bundle. In the figure, reference numeral 20 denotes a bookbinding machine, which comprises a bookbinding processing start unit 30, a milling processing unit 40, a gluing processing unit 50, and a cover processing unit 60. From the printing machine 1a, the printed sheet bundle 2 is carried out to the sheet bundle supply unit 2a. Further, the cover 3 having a size about twice the size of the printed sheet bundle is carried out from the printing press 1b to the cover supply unit 3a.

[0005] The sheet bundle 2 is carried into the bookbinding process start unit 30 from the sheet bundle supply unit 2a by an appropriate conveying means such as a conveyor. When the bookbinding process is started, the back side of the sheet bundle 2 is arranged on the level plate 33 side, is sandwiched between the clampers 31 and 32, and is sent to the milling processing unit 40 in the next step. (In the following steps, the clampers 31 and 32 are not shown.)

When the sheet bundle 2 is passed, the back surface of the sheet bundle 2 is flush with the surface, and the pre-processing is performed so that the glue is uniformly applied to the entire back surface. Next, the sheet bundle 2 having the rear surfaces flush with each other is sent to the glue processing unit 50. The gluing processing section 50 includes a gluing device 54 in which a glue 52 is stored in a glue tank 51 and a gluing roller 53 is partially immersed and mounted in the glue 52, and a gluing process is performed on the back surface of the sheet bundle 2. The glue 52 stored in the glue tank 51 is heated to an appropriate temperature in order to easily adhere when gluing the back surface of the sheet bundle 2.

When the gluing process is completed, the sheet bundle 2 is sent to a cover processing unit 60. In the cover attaching section 60, the printed cover 3 is transferred from the cover supply section 3a to a nip plate (clamping plate) 61, 6 by an appropriate transport means such as a conveyor.
2. After being pasted on the nip plates 61 and 62 and the bottom plate 63, which are conveyed on the bottom plate 63 and glued and transferred, the nip plates 61 and 62 are moved and The cover 3 is folded and fastened by tightening the vicinity of the rear edge of the bundle 2 from both sides.

In the example shown in FIG. 3, the sheet bundle 2 is printed by the printing press 1a, and the cover 3 is printed by another printing press 1b because the cover 3 is about twice as large as the sheet bundle 2. However, recently, due to the development of printing press technology, the sheet bundle 2 and the cover 3 may be printed by the same printing press. In this case, the sheet bundle 2 and the cover 3 printed by the same printing machine are respectively carried into the bookbinding processing start section and the cover attaching processing section of the bookbinding machine by appropriate conveyance means, and are placed on the back of the sheet bundle on which the glue processing is performed. Covering process is in progress.

As described above, in the conventional bookbinding process, the sheet bundle supply section into which the sheet bundle is carried in is located at a position close to the bookbinding processing start section of the bookbinding machine, and the cover is carried in. Since the cover supply unit is provided at a position close to the cover processing unit of the bookbinding machine, a path for carrying the bundle of sheets and a path for carrying the cover to the bookbinding machine are provided separately. In addition, there is a problem that the space required for the bookbinding process increases, and furthermore, a printing machine for printing a bundle of sheets and a printing machine for printing a cover are required, so that the cost is increased.

In addition, even if the printing press has good performance and the same size of the sheet bundle and the cover sheet can be printed by the same printing press, the cover is printed first and the binding process of the bookbinding machine is performed. , And then prints a bundle of paper, carries it through a different path from the cover to the bookbinding start unit of the bookbinding machine, performs gluing on the back of the bundle of paper, and waits in the cover processing unit. The cover attaching process is performed in combination with the cover. For this reason, separate paths are required to carry the printed sheet bundle and the cover into the bookbinding machine, so that the space required for the bookbinding process increases, and the printing machine and the bookbinding machine cannot be operated automatically. There has been a problem that the time required for the bookbinding process is long and the work efficiency is poor.

When the cover attaching process is completed for a bundle of sheets for one book, the bookbinding process for the next booklet is started, and the bookbinding process is sequentially performed. Since such a bookbinding process is automatically and continuously performed by operating the printing machine and the bookbinding machine via a common paper conveyance path without requiring any manual operation, a large amount of the bookbinding process can be performed in a short time. It can be carried out.

As described above, in the present invention,
Since the same paper transport path is used for carrying out the bundle of sheets and the cover sheet printed by the same printing machine to the bookbinding machine, the space required for the bookbinding process can be saved and the cost can be reduced. Further, the cover sheet was printed during the period in which the printed sheet bundle was in the standby state in the bookbinding machine, and was carried out to the cover attaching processing section of the bookbinding machine through the common paper conveyance path with a time lag, and the back side was subjected to a gluing process. Since the cover attaching process is performed in combination with the sheet bundle, the automatic operation of the printing machine and the bookbinding machine can be performed, so that the continuous bookbinding process can be performed and the work efficiency can be improved.
