Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connector, capable of grounding a metal shell in a structure comprising a less number of parts and with high reliability, and properly performing solder connection without letting a solder connection part to float from a circuit board in solder-connecting a contact to the circuit board. SOLUTION: A metal shell 30 of an electrical connector 1 integrally has an elastic tongue member 35, extending from part of the metal shell 30 downward and floating upward to a lower surface of a solder connection part 22 of a contact. The elastic tongue member 35 is pressed downward by a fixing means 4 until a lower end gets in contact with a circuit board 50 in fixing a housing to the circuit board 50 through the fixing means 40.

Next, a method of fixing the electric connector 1 on the circuit board 50 will be described.
Is mounted on the circuit board 50, and the solder connection portions 22 of all the contacts 20 are connected by soldering to the conductive pads on the circuit board 50. At this time, as shown in FIG. 2, the lower end of the contact piece 35e is floating above the lower surface of the solder connection portion 22 of the contact 20, so that the elastic tongue 35 contacts the surface of the circuit board 50. By doing so, the solder connection portion 22 does not rise from the surface of the circuit board 50. Therefore, the solder connection part 22 is appropriately connected to the conductive pad on the circuit board 50 by soldering. Next, as shown in FIG. 3, the screw portion 42 of the mounting screw 41 is inserted into the through hole 13 of the housing 10 and the through hole 51 of the circuit board 50, and a nut is inserted from below the circuit board 50 into the screw portion 42 of the mounting screw 41. And screwed in. Thus, the electrical connector 1 is fixed on the circuit board 50. At this time, the lower surface of the head 43 of the mounting screw 41 is the upper surface of the parallel piece 35c of the elastic tongue piece 35, the inclined piece 3
By contacting the upper surface of 5b and the upper surface of extension 35a in this order, the hanging piece 35d and the contact 35e are pressed downward, and the lower end of the contact 35e contacts the conductive pad on the circuit board 50. Thus, the metal shell 30 is grounded to the circuit board 50. As described above, according to the present invention, in order to ground the metal shell 30 to the circuit board 50, the mounting screws 41 are used.
Since no parts are required other than the fixing means 40 consisting of a nut and a nut, the number of parts required for grounding is small, the management of parts is easy, and the number of contacts is small and the reliability of grounding is high. When the lower end of the contact portion 35e contacts the conductive pad on the circuit board 50, the hanging piece 35d is slightly inclined with respect to the direction orthogonal to the lower surface of the surface mounting portion 12 of the housing 10. 35d is rotated toward the surface mounting portion 12 of the housing 10, and the contact portion 35d is rotated.
e slides on the conductive pad toward the surface mounting portion 12 of the housing 10. Therefore, the conductive pads on the circuit board 50 are wiped by the contact portions 35e. In addition, since the inclined surface 12a for escaping the hanging piece 35d and the notch 12b for escaping the contacting part 35e are formed on the side of the surface mounting part 12 of the housing 10, the hanging piece 35d rotates. However, the contact portion 35e does not contact the side portion of the surface mount portion 12 even if the contact portion 35e moves.

According to the electrical connector of the first aspect,
Since the metal shell integrally has an elastic tongue piece extending downward from a part of the metal shell and having a lower end floating above the lower surface of the solder connection part of the contact, the electric connector is mounted on the circuit board. When the solder connection portion is connected by soldering, the elastic tongue for grounding the metal shell to the circuit board comes into contact with the surface of the circuit board, so that the solder connection portion does not rise from the surface of the circuit board. For this reason, the solder connection portion is appropriately solder-connected to the conductive pad on the circuit board. Also, the elastic tongue is pressed downward by the fixing means when the housing is fixed on the circuit board by the fixing means so that the lower end comes into contact with the circuit board. Since no parts other than the fixing means are required for grounding the circuit board, the number of parts required for grounding is small, the management of parts is easy, and the number of contacts is small and the reliability of grounding is high. .

An insulative housing, a plurality of contacts attached to the housing and having a solder connection surface mounted on a circuit board, a metal shell surrounding the housing, and the housing connected to the circuit. A metal shell extending downward from a part of the metal shell and having a lower end floating above the lower surface of the solder connection part of the contact. When the housing is fixed on the circuit board by the fixing means, the elastic tongue is pressed downward by the fixing means so that the lower end is on the circuit board. An electrical connector, wherein the electrical connector is adapted to be in contact with the electrical connector.
