Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow the range of a literal information supply to a receiver against visually handicapped persons or the like, and to obtain automatically a guide information in a facility or the like, by establishing a sensor-sensitive area within a small range, and by transmitting a recorded voice guide by operating a transmitter in case that a person enters within a prescribed distance. SOLUTION: When a visually handicapped person walks, carrying a receiver 22, in a facility, an infrared-ray sensor 24 built in a transmitter 21 perceives that he enters an area within a prescribed distance, then a base sound (sound of a 'bell-ring' insect) is produced and a transmission of a guide information is started from an electronic-sound speaker 25. He can acknowledge the guide information by the sound of a 'bell-ring' insect, and also he can hear the guide information as a voice by the receiver 22. When the visually handicapped person goes out of the sensitive area of the infrared-ray sensor 24, the transmission and the operation of the electronic sound are stopped. Besides, even when a person except a visually handicapped person enters the sensitive area of the infrared-ray sensor 24 of the transmitter 22, a transmission of the guide information and a production of the base sound are operated, but he can hear only the sound of the 'bell-ring' insect, so the sound is not offensive to his ears.

When a sensor in the transmitter detects a person entering the area, a base sound such as an electronic sound or a synthesized voice is activated, and at the same time, guidance information recorded in advance by radio waves or infrared rays is transmitted. The visually impaired receives the guidance information with the receiver carried and obtains the information as voice guidance with earphones or the like. Of course, hearing people can also use it. If the power is kept on when the user has the receiver, the guide information transmitted from the transmitter can be automatically obtained when the transmitter approaches the predetermined distance range. A person who does not need the guidance information can hear only the base sound, and a normal hearing person such as a worker can hear only the base sound, which is hardly annoying.
