2. Description of the Related Art Heretofore, there have already been provided chairs in which an armrest can be adjusted up and down with respect to a support portion rising from a seat portion or a leg portion, or can be adjusted in a horizontal direction and a horizontal direction. As the left-right lateral movement and left-right angle adjustment mechanism of the armrest, a support member such as a metal plate fixed to the upper end of the support is positioned in a recess formed on the lower surface of the armrest, and the front and rear of the support member While supporting the end portion in a laterally movable manner with a holding member, the front and rear end portions of the support member and the continuous waveform engaging portion formed in the recess of the armrest portion are disengaged with an operation button and laterally moved left and right in multiple stages or There is one with a structure in which the left and right angles can be adjusted.

[0003] However, the conventional left and right lateral movement and left and right angle adjustment mechanisms of the armrest require an operation button for operating the mechanism. Conventionally, the operation button is provided at the center of the front and rear sides or the lower surface of the armrest. In addition to being provided on the front and rear portions, there are many portions where the mechanism portion is exposed on the lower surface of the armrest portion, and thus not only the appearance is poor, but also the operability remains a problem. Further, there is no structure in which the armrest portion can be adjusted in the vertical direction and a mechanism in which the horizontal movement and the horizontal adjustment mechanism are combined.

In a conventional vertical angle adjusting mechanism, an operation lever for engaging and disengaging an engagement projection with respect to an engagement recess is attached to a cover member constituting an armrest portion, while an operating member provided with the engagement projection is provided. Is attached to the tilting member, and the operating lever and the operating member are directly or indirectly linked to each other, or the engaging projection is integrally formed at the free end of the operating lever. Because of the structure in which the engaging pin and the like are locked, it has been impossible to laterally move or rotate the cover member of the armrest relative to the tilting member.

Next, the left-right lateral movement and left-right angle adjustment mechanism of the armrest 6 will be described with reference to FIGS. 2, 3, 5, and 7-11. The left and right lateral movement and left and right angle adjustment mechanisms respectively fit sliders 52 and 52 on horizontal holding plates 21 and 21 provided at the front and rear ends of the tilting member 9, respectively, and use the upper cover member via the sliders 52 and 52. A mounting groove 53 is provided on the inner upper surface of the upper cover member 26 so as to be laterally movable, and a guide groove 54 is provided in the width direction of the inner upper surface of the upper cover member 26 so that the click member 55 can be moved along the guide groove 54. The tilting member 9 is rotatably fitted into a circular hole 57 formed at the center of the upper surface plate 19 of the tilting member 9 while being fitted. That is, the angle of the armrest 6 can be adjusted horizontally about the rotation axis 56, and the armrest 6 can be moved laterally by sliding the guide groove 54 with respect to the click member 55. You can do it.

As shown in FIG. 9, the click member 55 is made of a synthetic resin having a substantially circular outer shape in plan view, and has an elliptical portion 61 which engages with the guide groove 54 on the upper surface side, and has a lower surface side. A rotary shaft 56 rotatably engaged with the circular hole 57 of the tilting member 9 is formed at an intermediate portion between the upper and lower portions. An elastic piece 62 is formed on one side surface of the elastic piece 62, and the elastic piece 62 similarly extends from the other end of the oval portion 61. At the tip of each of the elastic pieces 62, 62, a semi-cylindrical sliding portion 63, 63 is provided. Are formed at the same height as the elliptical portion 61. Further, concave portions 64, 64 for retracting the sliding portions 63, 63 are formed on both side surfaces of the oblong portion 61 corresponding to the sliding portions 63, 63. Then, with the rotation shaft 56 of the click member 55 inserted into the circular hole 57 of the upper surface plate 19 of the tilting member 9, the oval portion 61 of the click member 55 is elastically inserted into the guide groove 54 of the upper cover member 26. And the sliders 5 at the front and rear ends of the tilting member 9
2 and 52 are movably held and mounted by mounting plates 53 and 53 screwed to the frame rib 59 of the upper cover member 26. Here, the mounting plate 53 has a fixing portion 65 to be attached to the frame rib 59, a pressing portion 66 that slides on the upper surface of the slider 52, and a vertical portion 67 between the fixing portion 65 and the pressing portion 66. The vertical portion 67 has a horizontally long opening 68 through which the slider 52 is inserted. The mounting plate 53
In a state where the slider 52 is held, the slider 52 slidably contacts the holding portion 66 and the fixing portion 65, and in order to secure the contact pressure, the slider 52 is low inside the fitting of the holding plate 21. A plurality of ribs 69 are formed.

The oval portion 6 of the click member 55
1 is engaged between both side walls 58A, 58A of the guide groove 54, and both sliding portions 63, 63 are elastically pressed against the side walls 58A, 58A. As shown in FIG.
Is moved in the left and right direction, the click member 55 relatively moves along the guide groove 54, and the sliding portions 63, 63 are located at the center of the guide groove 54 and the notches 60,. Then it stops at that position due to its elastic force,
When the armrest 6 is strongly moved, the sliding portions 63 move away from the notches 60. That is,
The armrest 6 can be adjusted by laterally moving the armrest 6 to the center and to the left and right with respect to the support 5. When the armrest 6 is positioned at the center with respect to the support 5, the armrest 6 can be rotated left and right about the rotation shaft 56 by a predetermined angle, so that the left and right angles can be adjusted.

Here, the joint structure between the upper cover member 26 and the lower cover member 27 will be briefly described. An inner step 70 is formed on the periphery of the upper cover member 26 along its inner edge, and an outer step 71 is formed on the periphery of the lower cover member 27 along its outer edge. Are adapted. Then, a protrusion 72 is provided inward on one of the front and rear inner step portions 70 of the upper cover member 26.
And a connection hole 73 for engaging the projection 72 on the outer step 71 on the corresponding side of the lower cover member 27.
Pedestals 74, 74 are formed inside the other front and rear of the upper cover member 26, and mounting holes 75, 75 are formed on the corresponding side of the lower cover member 27. At the same time, the screws 76 inserted into the mounting holes 75 from below are screwed to the pedestals 74 and joined to each other. Further, since both members are made of synthetic resin, when the both side surfaces are pressed, the inward deformation of the upper cover member 26 is suppressed by the fitting relationship between the inner step 70 and the outer step 71. The inward deformation of the lower cover member 27 cannot be suppressed only by the fitting relationship between the inner step 70 and the outer step 71. Therefore, at the peripheral edge of the upper cover member 26, regulating claws 77 continuous from the frame rib 59 are provided so as to protrude, and the regulating claws 77 prevent inward deformation of the lower cover member 27.

As described above, the armrest 6 is supported by the support 5
The horizontal width of the opening 28 formed in the lower cover member 27 is set to be wide in consideration of the horizontal moving distance, and the vertical angle can be adjusted. The opening 28
The front and rear width is set wide with some margin. Therefore, when the front portion of the armrest portion 6 is raised and inclined upward, if the protective cover 78 is not provided, as shown in FIG. 3, the bracket such as the tilting member 9 and the peripheral portion of the support shaft 10 are exposed, Since the finger may be pinched in the exposed portion, the tilting member 9
5, a protective cover 78 is provided as shown in FIG. 5, FIG. 6, FIG. 12, and FIG. When the armrest 6 is moved right and left with respect to the support 5, the finger is not pinched between the protective cover 78 and the edge of the opening 28, and even if the finger is pinched. A gap of at least 6 mm is formed to prevent injuries.
