Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity, by a method wherein a casing for an air conditioner is formed by attaching a plurality of sheets of exterior panels to a frame consisting of a plurality of pieces of frame members while pinching a packing, while recessed grooves are formed at the middle part of abutting surface of the packing against the frame members to clamp exterior panels to the frame members by drilling screws. SOLUTION: A casing for air handling unit is constituted of a frame, formed by assembling a plurality of pieces of frame members 1, a plurality of sheets of exterior panels 3 and packings 4, pinched between the frame and the panels. In this case, a recessed groove 6 is formed at the middle part of the abutting surface 5 of the packing against the frame member 1 across the whole length of the frame member 1 while a small V-groove 9 is formed at the central part of the recessed groove 6 across the whole length of the same. Subsequently, drilling screws 8 are screwed to the recessed groove 6 from the side of the exterior panel 3. According to this method, the exterior panel 3 is clamped to the frame member 1 while pinching the packing 4 whereby the packing 4 is compressed intensively in the part R at the outside of the recessed groove 6 and, therefore, sealing property is improved compared with a case when the packing is compressed by the same clamping force but the packing abutting surface 5 against the frame member 1 is a flat surface.
