Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such inconveniences that a band for the protective covering of a peripheral part of the tempered glass plate is liable to be peeled off and also, looseness and wrinkles are liable to be caused in the band and further, the band is liable to fall off from the tempered glass. SOLUTION: Relating to a tempered glass plate which is formed 1 by subjecting the edges of a glass material plate to beveling and polishing treatment and thereafter subjecting all the faces of the plate to thermal tempering, a metallic covering band 2 is stuck to the formed tempered glass plate 1 so as to cover the edges of the glass plate 1 and peripheral parts of the both surfaces of the glass plate 1, wherein non-covering part 3, i.e., cut-off parts 3, are formed in the stuck covering band 2 in appropriate positions of at least the opposite longer sides of the glass plate 1, respectively.

[0004] In these known examples, in particular, when a coated band having a large coefficient of thermal expansion such as a metal tape is coated on a glass sheet, the adhesion between the coated band and the glass may be caused by repeated temperature fluctuations and temperature differences in the four seasons. Is weakened, the coated band is peeled off, the coated band is loosened and wrinkled, and the coated band is dropped off.

In the above-mentioned known example, when a coated glass having a high coefficient of thermal expansion such as a metal tape is coated on a sheet glass, the adhesion between the coated web and the glass is weakened due to the temperature fluctuation and the temperature difference as described above. As a result, the coated band is peeled off, the coated band is loosened, and wrinkles are formed, and the function as the expansion preventing member is lost.

FIG. 1 (perspective view) and FIG. 2 (front view)
The present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The glass base plate in the present invention is, for example, a borosilicate glass or a lithium silicate glass having a low thermal expansion coefficient and a high softening point, or an alumino-lime silicate glass or an alkali magnesium lime silicate glass having a relatively high thermal expansion coefficient. A clear transparent glass plate such as (a typical example is a soda-lime glass) and a colored transparent glass plate can be employed.

In these glasses, a glass base plate is heated to a temperature not lower than the strain point and not higher than the softening point, and then quenched by air blasting or other rapid cooling means to form a strengthened glass plate. The heat strengthening treatment means is not specified, and for example, there is a means for thermally strengthening while holding the glass plate in a vertical state, a means for arranging the glass plate in a horizontal state, and the like. When producing such a high-strength glass sheet, a so-called horizontal strengthening means such as a gas hearth or a roller hearth is preferably used.

Prior to the heat strengthening, the edge of the glass plate is chamfered and further polished so as not to cause minute chips or cracks. When the chamfered portion is polished, the edge surface and the yarn surface are uniformly polished, and the maximum roughness of the edge surface and the yarn surface is 20 μm or less, preferably 10 μm or less, more preferably 5 μm or less. That is, if there are locally conspicuous irregularities on the edge surface or the yarn surface, there is a possibility that a thermal crack originating from the portion may be caused, and the above-mentioned processing is to suppress the thermal crack as much as possible.

In the present invention, the glass plate (1 in the figure) which has been chamfered and polished as described above and further thermally strengthened, is connected to peripheral equipment articles during storage, transportation, installation and the like. At the time of contact, if there is a flaw or the like at the edge, there is a risk that thermal cracks will occur starting from this part,
The edge is protected and covered with the covering band 2.

The covering strip 2 is a metal strip that is plastic and adheres well to the edge of the glass plate 1 and that is not easily burned even when exposed to a flame and subjected to high heat. Thin ribbon,
A metal thin strip having a large number of holes, a band formed by braiding a metal wire, or a covering strip including these, for example, a sheet obtained by laminating a glass fiber cloth on the metal strip is preferable. Glass plate 1
In order to make the covering band 2 adhere to the covering band 2 so that the covering band 2 does not peel off or fall off, it is necessary to interpose an adhesive. Examples of the adhesive include silicone resin, phenol resin, and melamine. Organic adhesives such as resin, polyester resin, epoxy resin and urethane resin, and inorganic adhesives such as alkali silicate and aluminum phosphate can be used.

However, even when the cover strip 2 is brought into close contact with the cover, the difference in thermal expansion between the glass plate 1 and the cover strip 2 is large. Considering the temperature difference, for example, in the inland part where the temperature difference is large, the temperature received through the sash at the time of high temperature in summer reaches 50 ° C or more, and becomes -20 ° C or less under the same condition at low temperature in winter. And therefore the annual temperature difference is 70
The temperature exceeds 30 ° C., reaches 30 to 40 ° C. even in a day, and expands and contracts repeatedly.

Although it cannot be said unconditionally, the glass side is 1 m (10 m).
(00mm), the difference between the expansion and contraction of the metal tape and the glass side is 1.4 to 1.7mm. If the expansion and contraction due to heat are repeated, the tape may be partially peeled off, wrinkled, and detached. There is. Therefore, it is essential to have the metal tape, that is, the uncovered portion (interrupted portion of the covered band) 3 of the covered band 2, at least in the vicinity of the end of the opposed long side or near the center of the glass plate. Things. It is sufficient that the length of the uncoated portion 3 is several mm to several tens mm.

In the above description, not only the tempered glass sheet but also the glass sheet is liable to come into contact with other equipment articles at the four corners or in the vicinity thereof in the course of transfer, storage, construction, etc., and it is easy for scratches or the like to occur in the area. It is preferable to avoid disposing the uncoated portion 3 of the coated strip 2 in this area, and to dispose the uncoated portion 3 near the center of the long side of the glass plate where the chance of contact with other equipment articles is relatively small. .

Further, when both the length and the shorter side of the glass plate exceed 1 m, it is desirable to dispose the non-covered portion 3 of the cover band 2 near the center of the four sides. In addition, in addition to the covering band 2, resin (for example, silicone resin), rubber (for example, neoprene rubber), or the above-mentioned material is provided at the four corners of the glass plate, which are easily contacted with other equipment articles and are easily damaged. It is preferable to provide a similar protective cap 4 made of metal or the like. The protective cap 4 may be removed at the time of installation work, or if it is cut as shown by 5 (indicated by a dashed line) in the figure, it will not be exposed from the sash and will be laid without being removed at the time of installation.
