へそ径及びへそ高さに合わせた有底凹部を、また該有底
凹部に続き表面に放射状に間隔をあけて切刃を設けたす
りばち状の窪みを各々同心的に形成したピンプル形電極
チップの成形用カッタ機構により作成することができ
る。

溶接物によって種々に異なり、ピンプルを成形する成形
用カッタの選択は種々のピンプル寸法に対応する必要が
あり、管理が繁雑で使用が制限されていた。

すりばち状の窪みを各々同心的に形成したことを特徴と

法においての被溶接板厚0.8ミリのメッキ鋼板に対す
るピンプル径はφ8高さ3ミリを選定する。(0.8ミ
リ〜2ミリ兼用)ピンプル径はφ8なので連続打点溶接
を進行していく過程において自己再生機能は十分には作
用せず電極先端面に漸進的に合金層が累積し溶接性が悪
くなるにで、従来のドーム形電極の場合と同様に適時ス
テップアップして約20000打点溶接する。(この溶
接過程においてピンプルは消滅し電極先端面も崩れしか
も合金層が厚く累積する)該電極を下記する成形用カッ
タ及び成形方法で切削成形してピンプルを再生する。

せれば、成形用カッタ10に形成された渦巻状の切刃3
〜6,3a〜6aによって電極チップは上下同心のピン
プル形に切削成形される。この切削成形過程において中
心部のピンプルに対応する凹部2,2aの底面に形成さ
れた切刃8,8aによりピンプル形電極チップの先端面
も切削される。

により挟持した状態で回転せしめ、前記両電極チップを
同時に成形するカッタ、すなわち必要最小厚の円盤状部
材の両面の中心部にピンプル形電極チップのへそ径及び
へそ高さに合わせた底凹部を、また該底凹部に切刃を有
すると共にピンプル形電極の縦断面形状に対応するすり
ばち状窪み面に切刃を設け、上下両面各々同心的に形成
したことを特徴とする。したがってピンプル形電極の特
徴である電極先端の自己再生機能を若干犠牲にし、その
ために生ずる電極チップ先端の漸進的合金層の累積部分
を、本発明成形用カッタによってピンプルを作成する過
程で迫動的に底面も削除され除去できるために、理想的
なピンプル径の選定にこだわること無く、溶接条件の設
定も従来のドーム形電極の感覚で使用でき、しかもピン
プル形電極チップの自己再生機能特性を活用でき、連続
打点性が高く汎用性のあるピンプル形電極による溶接が
できる効果を有する。
