Method and apparatus for determining and displaying the status of media in a conduit
The present invention detects and displays the condition of the medium in the conduit by the preamble of claim 1.
Device.
The device of the present invention mainly detects the state of brake fluid in the brake system of a vehicle to detect
Intended to be displayed. Brake fluid for vehicle brake systems is hygroscopic
There is, that is, more or less water absorption. Prediction of water in brake fluid
If the specified value is exceeded, it is considered unsuitable for use and must be replaced. This
Which can be determined by later experiences using a period of time;
However, devices for detecting the state of brake fluid have recently been used
It became so. Such devices remove the resistance of the brake fluid and partially remove the brake fluid.
Or measure directly in the brake fluid reservoir of the master cylinder.
Since the electrical resistance of the brake fluid changes as a function of the moisture in the brake fluid, the resistance
The value provides a good indication of brake fluid moisture.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a device of the type described in the introduction, wherein
Is easy to use, when the old brake fluid is drained and filled with new brake fluid
Can be displayed with high reliability and at the same time new brake fluid is consumed.
Can be prevented.
According to the present invention, this is achieved by the features disclosed in the characterizing part of claim 1.
Can be achieved by a device of the type mentioned in the introduction which is characterized
.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the dependent claims.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
I do.
FIG. 1 shows a part of a vehicle brake system provided with an apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention.
FIG.
FIG. 2 is a side sectional view of the sensor means included in the apparatus of FIG.
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of a vehicle having a brake system with a device according to another embodiment.
FIG.
FIG. 4 is a schematic view of an instrument included in the device according to the present invention.
FIG. 1 shows a master brake cylinder 3 connected via brake pipes 2a and 2b.

doing. The master brake cylinder 3 is filled with brake fluid and blocks the system.
Fill with rake fluid and act as an expansion vessel when braking is applied
Having both purposes. The brake pedal 5 provides braking when the driver puts the foot 6 on.
Connected to the master brake cylinder.
Each wheel brake cylinder 1a, 1b is provided with a purge unit by a known method.
Pulls 7a, 7b are provided, which are used to
Used to deflate from. However, the purge nipples 7a and 7b
Drain the brake fluid from the brake system when the brake fluid must be changed
It is also used for
In FIG. 1, a part of the master brake cylinder 3, a brake pipe 2b,
Fluid in the part of the brake system including the wheel brake cylinder 1b
Hose 8 is connected to the purge nipple 7b to allow replacement of the drain hose.
. In this case, the purge nipple 7b is open and the drain hose is retracted.
It extends downward to the inside of the collection container 9. When the brake pedal 5 is depressed, the brake
The rake fluid is applied to the master brake cylinder 3, brake pipe 2b,
A force is applied across the brake pipe 2b and the wheel brake cylinder 1b. New bu
By filling the brake fluid container 4 with rake fluid, this new brake fluid is
At the same time, it replaces the old brake fluid.
According to the invention, the sensor means 10 is arranged in the drain hose 8. C
The details of the sensor means 10 are shown in FIG. 2 and will be described in more detail below. Sensor means
10 is connected to a meter 12 by a conductive wire 11, and the meter 12
To indicate the resistance detected by the sensor means 10 as described in
At least one display unit 13 is provided.
The details of the sensor means 10 are shown in FIG.
It has an essentially cylindrical body 14 made of a gas insulating material. Body 14 is drain
It has a connecting means 15 for the hose 8 and a passage 16 connects the connecting means 15 and the body 14.
It extends through and is thus connected to the drain hose 8, part of which is shaped
Brake fluid can flow through the configured sensor means 10. Two electricity
The poles 17, 18 extend out of the side through the body 14 and the electrodes 17, 18
It ends apart in Road 16. Electrodes 17 and 18 are connected to conductive line 11 and
Thereby, it is connected to the meter 12 and the display means 13.
When using the apparatus of FIGS. 1 and 2, old brake fluid flows through the drain hose 8.
Then, the electrical resistance detected in the brake fluid between the tips of the electrodes 17 and 18 in the passage 16 is detected.
Anti has a certain value. Old brake fluid is sufficiently drained and filled with new brake fluid
The entire amount of old brake fluid is left at the relevant site in the brake system.
New brake fluid is pushed out through the purge nipple 7b and drain hose 8
Flow through. This new brake fluid reaches the sensor means 10 and the electric current in the passage 16 is
The resistance value detected when flowing between poles 17 and 18 changes.
Become With proper calibration of the instrument 12, the display means 13 will indicate that the resistance is
Can be displayed as soon as it increases to a certain value corresponding to the new brake fluid value
You. This is because the display means 13 indicates that the old brake fluid is sufficiently drained and the new brake fluid is discharged.
Means that the fluid provides an indication as soon as it fills the relevant parts of the brake system.
You. In this way, it is ensured that all the brake fluid is replaced and at the same time
Reduces the risk of brake fluid draining.
FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of the present invention. In the embodiment shown in FIG.
Parts similar to those shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 have the same reference numerals.
I have. As can be seen from FIG. 3, in this case the sensor means 10 is mounted on the vehicle 20 (schematically shown).
) Is connected to the wheel brake cylinder 19. The sensor means 10 is shown in FIG.
And is connected to the brake pipe 21. Guidance
An electric wire 11 connects the sensor means 10 to the instrument 12, wherein the instrument 12 is
It is driven by both electrical systems (not shown). A conductive wire 22 is provided from the instrument 12.
The display unit 13 extends to the display unit 13 in this case.
(Not shown).
The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG.
By the calibration, the display unit 13 displays the brake fluid in the brake pipe 21.
Contains too much water to be suitable for further use and must be replaced
If not, an indication can be provided. In this way, the brake fluid change
An indication is provided in the vehicle when it is time.
FIG. 4 shows one embodiment of the instrument 12, which is the calibration of the instrument.
Can be used for different types of brakes from different manufacturers.
Liquid can have different electrical properties
This is because it is shown. To obtain a calibration of the instrument 12, FIG.
As shown, it has a measurement probe connected to the instrument 12 by a conductor 24.
When calibrating the instrument 12, the measurement probe 23
Into the new brake fluid that is about to fill the
Button 25 is pressed. Electricity in brake fluid is measured by measuring probe 23
The resistance is measured and the measured value is provided to the meter 12. Then add new brake fluid
By introduction, the brake fluid is replaced through the brake system,
The old brake fluid discharged as described above is replaced. New brake fluid
Upon reaching the storage means 10, the meter 12 indicates that the flowing liquid has been stored in the meter 12.
If it has a value equal to the value, it will provide an audio and / or visual signal. this
Means that the new brake fluid reaches the sensor means 10 and that the entire brake system
Means filled with brake fluid.
The resistance of the new brake fluid and the brake fluid having a predetermined moisture and boiling point
By measuring the resistance, the condition of the used brake fluid can be determined with high accuracy.
Can be specified. Moisture and, as mentioned above, the electrical resistance as a function of the boiling point of the liquid is
Follow a curve, which can be converted to a four digit code and input to the instrument 12
It is possible.
The present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. Rather, the following patent contract
Deformation is possible within the required range.
