Protective sleeve
Field of the invention
The present invention is designed to prevent the wearer from contacting liquids that may adversely affect the user's skin.
About sleeves to protect the arm.
Desirable to protect the arm from contact with fluids that can harm the user's skin
There are many cases. Especially when corrosive or acidic solvents are used for cleaning.
is there. Impermeable gloves are usually worn when hands are immersed in the cleaning solution in the bucket.
This will not cause a problem, but if your hand is lifted up from a horizontal position,
May flow from the gloves to the arm.
Known to provide protection to the forearm or shoulder in the form of a plastic sleeve
However, this protection is only intended to keep the forearms clean. Plastic sleeve
The use does not alleviate the problem of keeping the liquid away from the arm, and such
Plastic sleeves before cleaning solution flows down the arms over the ends of the plastic sleeves
It only protects against the least amount of cleaning solution.
Conventionally, it is possible to construct a glove including an outer layer for retaining water outside the impermeable layer.
Proposed. But this water retention layer does not use another sponge on gloves
It only performs the same function as the sponge so that it can be prepared for cleaning. this
Examples of such proposals are British Patent Application GB2113977 and British Application GB8990.
Found in No. 16. UK Patent Application GB2033371 or Cumbus
Increase the usefulness of gloves, as in issued GB Patent 2134171
For this reason, it has been proposed to use a cleaning pad with such gloves. I
However, such gloves primarily apply cleaning fluids to surfaces that need cleaning.
More troublesome problem with fluid flowing along the raised arm
Is neglected. In fact, more liquid is temporarily held and slowly unwound
With gloves like this, the problem gets worse, as they are released and flow to your arms
I do.
Also, Australian Patent Specification No. 490155 (73535/74)
In order to absorb fluid that may come into contact with the surgical field area in front of the surgical gown,
It has been proposed to provide one having a fluid impermeable material provided with a surface. hand
It is said that the use of an absorbent layer for surgical dressing minimizes the outflow of liquid. However
As far as the inventor knows, it is convenient to use with gloves and makes
Fits easily, is easy to carry and remove, and fits any user size
There is no article that provides protection for the wearer's arm.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a simple and effective method for addressing any of the aforementioned problems.
Keep the user's arm in contact with the fluid to prevent or minimize jumping.
Protective sleeves that protect from no contact or at least provide the public with a useful choice
It is to provide.
Summary of the Invention
Although not necessarily the only form in the broadest form, the present invention
Includes mounting means for mounting around the wearer's arm to be held in place.
It can be said that it is in the protective sleeve. The protective sleeve has a waterproof material extending along its length.
The inner layer and the liquid around the inner layer and delays the flow along the sleeve
An outermost layer of absorbent material, said sleeve extending to the upper arm of the user.
The attachment means is in the form of a resilient portion fitted around the wearer's wrist.
May be. Conveniently, the protective sleeve is fitted and secured to the arm, and the sleeve is
Waterproof gloves weigh enough with the ends of the protective sleeves so that they do not need to fit tightly against
So that it fits over the outer end of the sleeve.
Instead, the attachment means is caught on the user's thumb, so that the sleeve is
It may include a ring to prevent it from moving away.
In a preferred form, the absorbent layer is substantially coextensive with the waterproof layer. Most
Also preferably, the sleeve is formed from a laminate of waterproof and absorbent material, wherein the laminate is
Made before the sleeve is formed.
However, the absorbent material is simply glued to the waterproof sleeve with a suitable plastic glue
Is also good. The absorbent material may be any material having an absorbent property. Generally, sleeves
Because they are intended to be reusable, the absorbent material is preferably water resistant or
Or it may be resistant to the liquid used and made of textiles.
A band that is relatively thick, does not have the same extent as the sleeve, and is formed around the sleeve
It is desirable to have an absorber in the form of a sphere. These strips of absorbent material are like sponges
It may be formed of a material.
The waterproofing material is preferably a plastic such as that already used for protective sleeves or gloves.
Or rubber material. In one form, the sleeve plastic is waterproof
Yes, but a material that allows the passage of air so that the sleeves can be inhaled
Is formed by
In another aspect, the chemical resistance of the sleeve is resistant to the chemicals used.
A layer is provided. This chemical resistant layer may be separate from the waterproof layer or
It may be integral with it.
It is advantageous to manufacture the protective sleeve integrally with the glove. The absorbent layer flows down the sleeve
Gloves may not contain an absorbent layer, as this may increase the amount of liquid

Detailed Description of Illustrated Embodiment
The protective sleeve of the present invention comprises a waterproof inner layer (1) extending along the length of the sleeve,
It consists of an outermost layer (2) made of an absorbent material that covers the periphery of the layer.
The flowing liquid is absorbed by the absorbent layer, at least delaying the liquid from flowing down
You.
The first embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has two layers, an outer absorbing layer 2 and
, A waterproof plastic provided inside the sleeve to function as a holder for the absorbent layer 2
And a lock layer 1. The outer edge of the plastic layer is bent and this bent
The elastic member 3 is inserted into the groove 4 formed by the barb. This groove is sewn
It is closed. The outer edge of the elasticized sleeve, that is, the outer edge of the sleeve near the hand
The part 5 has the function of holding the sleeve in place on the user's wrist. On the other hand, inside
The end 6 of the sleeve away from the hand extends to the user's shoulder and is as elastic as the end near the hand.
Provided and held on the user's shoulder. Additional mounting means for the inner end
It may be desirable to provide. For example, place your sleeves as high as possible on your arm
To retain, it is desirable to have a band extending from the inner edge around the user's shoulder.
Sometimes it is better. The length of the sleeve is shown as extending to the shoulder.
The absorbent shown in this example has substantially the same extent as the plastic material
However, at the outer end of the sleeve, no absorbent material covers the elasticized portion. That
As a result, no liquid is retained on the sleeve seams. In the present invention, the absorbent material has the same area as the waterproof material.
It is to be understood that the present invention also encompasses a form having no bearing.
In this embodiment, the absorbent material is a fiber bonded to the plastic layer by the adhesive layer 7.
It is a tunnel material. The laminate thus formed is made of flannel made of plastic material.
It is preferable to separate them. The reason is that without a laminated structure, flannel material
The plastic material is out of contact and the liquid quickly moves along the sleeve
This is because it will be the part that will fall down.
In use, the sleeve is worn on the user's arm, with the end 6 away from the hand on the shoulder
Fixed. The term shoulder includes the upper part of the arm near the shoulder. Away from hand
Sleeves fit snugly around wrist. Then waterproof gloves are worn, sleeves and hands
The bag is ready.
When the arm is raised, water or other cleaning fluid flows from the gloves to the sleeves and the absorbent layer
Sleeves are particularly effective in that they become absorbed by the runnel. sleeve
The capacity to absorb the liquid is not infinite, and when a large amount of liquid is used,
It is understood that moisture exceeds the absorption capacity of the outer layer.
A plastic layer is used in contact with flannel,
It is preferable to form a water-impermeable layer by applying a water-impermeable coating to another absorption layer.
There are cases.
A second embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. In the second embodiment, the water absorbing layer 2 is used.
Consists of a plastic layer 1 separated from This sleeve is used as a disposable sleeve
Oriented, so the outer layer is simply a layer of absorbent paper. Glued to the whole
Instead of the two layers provided, these layers are joined only at the two ends 5, 6 of the sleeve
ing. As best shown in FIG. 4, the elasticized bands 4 together
Overcast with the edges of the lined plastic and paper layers. Two
It is a slight inconvenience that the layers are not completely in contact, but still
The two layers along the direction are in full contact, so that moisture can be absorbed by the absorbent layer close to the glove.
Penetrates and flows along the inner plastic layer with minimal absorption of water
It does not happen. In use, the two layers are a well-formed syringe
, But as a result of the complex shape of the moving arms, they have numerous bends and bends
Having. As a result, many contacts are made between these two layers.
The length of the sleeve is somewhat shorter than in the first embodiment and extends beyond the user's elbow.
Extending. The near hand end of this embodiment terminates approximately midway between the elbow and the shoulder.
This is a comfortable configuration to wear and as a result fits securely over the top of the arm
It turns out that it is. In general, if the arm is raised during cleaning, the elbow is still bent
ing. Therefore, the maximum flow of water is on the user's forearm and the liquid is
Hardly contact. As a result, the lower arm 10 rather than the upper arm 11 of the user is retained.
It is important to protect.
A third embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. This example shows a sleeve and glove 1
Combined with No.3. Gloves are waterproof enough to withstand the intended use
Consists of The sleeve 14 of the glove is made of a water-resistant layer formed integrally with the glove. Absorbing layer
Is formed on the sleeve by heat welding to give a dotted appearance. Heat weld 15
Is patterned on the sleeve surface. As with the other embodiments shown, release
Sleeve sections are collected and fitted with elasticized bands.
This embodiment does not require the use of separate gloves, and
The advantage is that only one can be attached. The absorbent layer runs down the sleeve
The gloves are covered with an absorbent layer as this will increase the amount of residual liquid.
Not. However, different sizes are required depending on the size of the user's hand
There is a problem. Although the third embodiment shown extends beyond the user's elbow,
It shows the sleeves that do not reach the shoulders, but is combined with gloves to reduce the length to the shoulders.
It may be desirable to have a sleeve that has.
Two layers held close to each other, forming an adhesive layer or laminate between them
The advantage of double-layer hot-welding in that the cost of
It is understood to have This material may also be used in sleeveless gloved embodiments.
It is also understood that other bilayers may be used. Sa
In addition, the sleeve does not need to be formed integrally with the glove, and it does not prevent the joint between the sleeve and the glove.
It is understood that if water is applied, it may be joined.
A fourth embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. In this embodiment, the waterproof layer
1 forms a sleeve. Absorbing layer is a band arranged at regular intervals vertically along the sleeve
It is provided in the form of twenty. The band made of absorbent material is made of sponge-like material.
, Are considerably thicker than the absorption layers in the other embodiments. Sponge band is thick
Is about 7 mm. This embodiment has the capacity to absorb large amounts of water. More
Each band acts as a barrier to liquid flow if more liquid is expected
. Furthermore, unlike when an absorbent paper layer is used, the water flow is quickly diffused
The strip acts to diffuse the water flow laterally so that it is easily absorbed.
This sleeve is shown as being the same length as the sleeve of the third embodiment, but the third
A form having a length up to the shoulder as described in the embodiment may be adopted.
Further, where large liquid flows are expected, any of the first three embodiments
A continuous absorbent layer as described in any of the above is provided, and a fourth layer is provided on the top of the continuous absorbent layer.
It may be desirable to provide a layer of overlapping bands as described in the examples.
A discontinuous absorption layer having another configuration may be provided.
Although only a two-layer configuration is shown, the outer layer is the absorber and liquid is passed inside the absorber layer.
If there are no layers, it may be desirable to have more than two layers. wear
To provide comfort to the wearer, a three-layer sleeve may be desirable. These three layers
In the case of sleeves, the inner absorbent layer is inside the sleeve, for example to absorb moisture from sweating
Provided.
