Adaptive optimization method of ultrasonic measurement signal
The present invention relates to a method for adaptively optimizing an ultrasonic measurement signal.
The measurement accuracy and structural resolution of an ultrasonic pulse-echo system depend on the spectrum.
System is defined routinely by the bandwidth and by the temporal shape of the measurement signal.
It is. For example, for high observation accuracy and good axial resolution,
The nature and the shortest possible rise and fall transient oscillation periods are preferred. Usually conventional
Acoustic transducers are usually weakly damped resonant transducers, which are advantageous.
Vibrates in a predetermined mode, and based on the misalignment with air, the acoustic medium,
With limited efficiency-bandwidth-synthetic properties or products. For this reason
From the pulsed excitation of the transducer in question is generally optimal in the above sense
No measurement signal is generated.
The following conventional methods for improving the transmission signal of the ultrasonic transducer for material inspection with ultrasonic waves
It is described in the publications indicating the technology, ie the publications; "Smelting, steelmaking, field work
Port, reprinted metal post-treatment ”(Sonderdruck aus Fachberichte Huettenpraxis M
etall-Weiterverarbeitung, 19th year, Second volume, 1988, H.E. A. Crostak: “G
rundlagen CS-Technik ”. The above improvement is achieved by changing the frequency spectrum of the transmitted signal.
For example, by multiplying one pulse by one or more selected functions,

A so-called inverse filter can be applied to improve the characteristic data.
Such an inverse filter is known from the following publications of the prior art: Sedki M. Riad, ENG GB
"The Deconvolution Problem: An Overview", IEEE, 1986.
In the case of inverse filtering, the ultrasonic signal transmitted from the transmitting transducer is received,
It is subsequently acted upon by the inverse transfer function of the system.
According to a further approach, an inverse filter function is included in the signal to be transmitted (calculation
Above). This results in the reverse pre-filtering.
In the case of post-filtering, the received signal is filtered after each measurement.
I have to. Analog tunable filters are extremely difficult to implement,
Such filtering is usually performed with a digital filter. Where phil
Implementing real-time tapping is only possible at a relatively high cost.
Noh.
The disadvantage of inverse pre-filtering is the wide band of linearity for excitation of the ultrasonic transducer.
Power transmission-the need for an amplifier. High cost and considerable power consumption
As such, its use is often acceptable on inexpensive "stand-alone" devices
I can't.
The disadvantages of both inverse pre-filtering and post-filtering are:
Information on the whole system must exist for the calculation of inverse filtering
The information must exist beforehand, and the information
If no consideration is given or the data is inaccurate, the method
It is prone to instability and / or less than optimal results.
The subject underlying the present invention is that the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the ultrasonic transducer
A signal adaptation method that does not require information about the entire system
Such a method is provided. In addition, the method may be a non-linear system.
It is also suitable for.
The advantage of the method of the invention is that it is always safe, irrespective of the system-transmission characteristics.
That is, a fixed optimal solution can be obtained or an optimizing means can be achieved.
Furthermore, the additional advantages obtained with the method of the invention are not as high as those with high errors.
That is, the probability of obtaining a partially optimum result (solution) is small. Further in the present invention
The method can save costly hardware and software.
The above problem is solved by the method of main claim 1. An advantageous development is
It is indicated in the subclaims.
Thus, signal optimization can be further improved by the method of claim 2.
The methods of claims 3, 4 and 5 are particularly suitable for optimizing the axial resolution.
For optimization of the rise transient vibration duration, for example, by a comparator circuit
The methods of claims 6.7 and 8 are particularly suitable for optimizing the accuracy of the phase measurement. Associate
10. The method according to claim 9, wherein the probability of occurrence of the means for partial optimization is further reduced.
Is suitable.
Next, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

Function of the signature or error feature ζ, and therefore the transmitted signal vector SkIs a function of
.
ζ (sk) = F (s)k1, Sk2, ... skN)
The shape of the error characteristic curve depends on the transfer function h (n) and the selected error characteristic or error characteristic.
It is determined by the charge. The signal optimization is performed as follows: the error function ζ (sk
) Is minimized as much as possible.kChange and correct
You. Here, the N-dimensional optimization problem is targeted, and its complexity is the error curve
Derived from the characteristics of
FIG. 2 shows a sequence chart of the optimization process. Delta as initialization signal
Starting from the pulse and successively by one fixed step width d, the N-coordinate
Error feature or error feature amount is calculated for each coordinate.
The step width d that starts with it is reduced is the maximum of the transmitted sampling value.
It is half the amplitude of the large adjustable amplitude value. With a given step width d
If no improvement is achieved in the coordinates, the step size d is reduced by a factor of two.
, And the optimization process is repeated for all coordinates. In the process
The evaluation criterion (scale amount) is satisfied in the following cases, that is, the step width.
With d = 1 (which represents the smallest step size), no improvement can be obtained anymore.
Satisfied.
Significantly large step widths at the beginning of the process are favorable, such as:
Act positively, that is, here the process has a high error level
The probability of entering a flat local minimum and stagnating there
It has a favorable aggressive action which is slight.
It should be noted here that at the beginning of adaptation, small steps
Finding the error minimum with respect to one coordinate is insignificant, because
The individual coordinates are not orthogonal to each other, so the optimal value of one coordinate is
This is because it depends on all coordinates. Therefore, the precise optimization of individual coordinate values is
Only makes sense, i.e. all other coordinates are relatively well optimized.
Is significant only if The above characteristics and behavior are as shown in FIG.
It can be specified in a non-orthogonal space of dimension. The search starts at point A and points B
Move in the direction. Here, successively in one of the two directions S1 and S2
The search proceeds. The error value is based on the respective interval from the instantaneous position to B.
Determined.
Furthermore, as is evident from FIG. 3, the search process is basically stable,
For a function with a single modality, it converges to the absolute minimum. The broken line shown in FIG.
4 shows a direct route between the point A and the target point B.
Ultrasound being utilized, as in currently known multidimensional optimization methods
The following are inevitable in the search and search method for the coordinates for signal optimization.
The algorithm does not converge to an absolute minimum for functions that are not single modalities.
Then, the error function ζ (sk) Quasi- or partially-optimal local minimum
Inevitably converge to Clearly lower probability of poor sub- or partially optimal solution
In order to reduce the noise, a noise signal is additionally superimposed on the received signal.
"Leaps out (jumps)" outside the fractional optimal minimum, and thus has relatively low error
It is possible to reach a level. With this method, after each optimization cycle
Or in the case of learning stagnation, the superimposed noise power is sequentially reduced. Multi-order
A method with equivalent basic ideas for ex-optimization is described in the following document

Have been. Generally, the ultrasonic measurement signal is superimposed with a noise (obstruction) amount.
The signal-to-noise ratio of the received signal can be substantially significantly simplified by increasing or decreasing the transmission voltage.
, Or by averaging over several measurement cycles. Further received signal
In the case of digitization processing
The amount of noise can be added in the calculation.
The process is, in effect, the envelope, envelope of an airborne ultrasonic measurement system.

Is proportional to the average value of the voltage amplitude) and the square of the ratio to the maximum amplitude.
Where T is the duration of each measurement cycle.
In short, a small error value ζ has a narrow main vibration wave and small spurious.
The received signal
You. Thus, the best signal is a delta-pulse with an error value of one. The above error rating
The advantage of the price criterion is that the two feature values, the amplitude peak value and the average value, are remarkable.
It can be obtained easily and, in some cases, with a simple operational amplifier circuit. Error features
In addition, when the error feature is obtained using hardware, the time signal is no longer
There is no need to tally, and both features are sampled once again for each transmission process.
Hardware costs and processing time are significantly reduced.

The received signal spectrum has a smooth course and its shape is a Hanning window
Remarkably similar to 3dB bandwidth almost 5 times compared to normal pulse response
Is growing.
According to the example, as shown on the left side of FIG.
And the transmitted signal produces a significantly improved received signal.
, The received signal is very well suited for further signal evaluation.
The convergence characteristic of the process is clearly shown in accordance with the error characteristic curve shown in FIG.
Is done. The evolution of the error value as a function of the number of adaptation cycles is shown. the above
The characteristic curve is also called a learning curve. In the first adaptation cycle, the amount of error is
Reduced significantly faster, then relatively slowly parabolically towards the minimum closing price
Converge. The break criterion is satisfied after 36 cycles.
The error function is generally not a function of a single modality. Not only the entire function, but individual
The error function of the transmission sampling values can also take a plurality of minimum values. Send sun here
A typical function of the error depending on the value of the pulling value is shown in FIG.
FIG. 10 shows an error function depending on two transmission sampling values. Outstanding
In addition to the global minimum, multiple global minimums in the region around the function are specified.
I have. The fact that the error function of individual transmission samplings has multiple minima is
Of particular importance, apart from the fact that the entire function consists of individual error functions,
The reason is that the entire optimization characteristic extends over each sub-optimization in the individual coordinate directions.
Because it is.
Note that FIGS. 9 and 10 show typical errors only at the beginning of the adaptation.
Form a difference function. If the optimization is pushed in the direction of the minimum value,
All error functions of the ring value are square functions (parabolic characteristics).
A further application of the process is shown in FIG. 32 sampled values

, Adapted to three stages of quantization.
The results of the adaptation and adaptation (see FIG. 12) clearly show that
Even in the case of the simple transmitted signal (which is shown in FIG. 13)
A clear optimization of the signal (see FIG. 14) is achieved. Envelope and envelope characteristics
The spurs in the curve are significantly reduced and the signal bandwidth is smaller than the pulse response.
Almost doubled.
The transmission circuit, which operates with almost no loss, uses an ultrasonic transducer in a hybrid device.

Coarse signal quantization, in a sense, creates nonlinearities in the system. So obviously
As it turns out, the process also optimizes the system for significantly nonlinearities
it can. Direct calculation of inverse filtering (here, assuming linear signal transmission)
In contrast to the present invention, feature- or feature-assisted adaptive signal optimization (the present invention)
In this case, the transmission element, for example, the transmission and reception amplifier
Very few requirements on linearity are imposed, which leads to significant hardware
Can be simplified.
The robustness and robustness of the method of the present invention will become clear from further examples. here,
It is used that has a zero in the frequency response, and therefore directly inverts
This is a simulation of a system that cannot be performed. Simulated system
The signal course of the system corresponds to that in FIG. Here, in the signal spectrum
Is replaced by a pure zero (Fig.

Oscillating in various modes that can occur, ie, weakly attenuated, and therefore signal energy
Can occur for small ultrasonic transducers that vanish between each mode. Features or features
Quantization-as is evident in the results of the assisted signal optimization (see FIG. 15).
Generation of the combined transmission signal is performed successfully.
The robustness of the method process is obtained by the following items and facts:
The fact that the characteristics of the whole system during adaptation are controlled,
Can be A continuous change of the filter function occurs only when:
Error features or error features derived from the
Only performed if the characteristics of the stem have improved. Therefore, the system to be optimized
The process can no longer be unstable from the outset
Where the system is non-linear, slightly attenuated, and "poor-configuration" (
“Ill posed”).
A further advantage of the method according to the invention is that no factor is required for the calculation of the inverse signal.
There is no need to consider the effect of the error because the extracted error signal
Since only the shape of the received signal is optimized. Therefore, when wasteful
You don't have to worry about it.
The adaptation speed is determined by the transmission
The time required is determined decisively. The time required by the process to calculate
It can be neglected because it performs a very small number of extremely simple operations.
It is only necessary to give it.
