ドと、前記ワークの回転軸線に直交する方向に往復動可
能にかつ前記回転軸線に平行して往復動可能に支持され
た砥石、及び砥石を支持する砥石移動軸装置と、を有す
る円筒研磨装置において、前記砥石と砥石が研削する部
分の前記ワーク付近断面全体をおおい下方を開放した移
動防水カバーを前記砥石移動軸装置に固定支持し、前記
移動防水カバー側面の一方に固定され他方と開閉可能に
支持されかつ前記移動防水カバー両側面から前記ワーク
の両端チャック部を越えて配置された端部防水カバーま
で延在する一対の蛇腹防水カバーを設け、前記開閉可能
に支持された蛇腹防水カバーの前記移動防水カバー側面
と当接する側板は支持体に支持されたエアーシリンダー
のピストンに連結されており、前記開閉可能に支持され
た蛇腹防水カバーの開閉は前記移動防水カバーが停止し
たとき前記ピストンを移動させて行い、前記移動防水カ
バーが前記砥石移動軸装置と共に移動するときは、前記
側板を閉じる方向に前記ピストンが作動され、前記側板
を閉じる圧力は前記減圧弁で調圧されるようにしたこと
を特徴とする円筒研磨装置の防水カバー。
