Description of the Related Art In this type of panel-type pointing device (touch pad), in order to move a cursor, a finger is moved so as to trace the panel according to the amount of movement. Therefore, if it is desired to move the cursor significantly on the computer screen, it is necessary to repeatedly trace the limited panel area with the finger accordingly. However, since this involves labor, an algorithm is used in software that keeps moving the cursor in a specified direction under a certain condition when a finger passes through a predetermined area in the panel area.

Therefore, depending on how the finger is moved on the panel, the cursor is moved. If you want to stop, the cursor keeps moving unexpectedly, or you have to take your eyes off the screen once and move your finger while looking at the panel to keep the cursor moving,
There was an inconvenience that it was difficult to operate sensuously.

To set the cursor at a predetermined position while checking the screen display. On the other hand, when it is desired to keep moving the cursor in the designated direction, if the finger moving on the panel feels an uneven surface, the finger is moved to the outside of the panel surface as it is. Then, when the switch contacts the switch surrounding the outside of the panel surface, the switch contact at the predetermined position is connected, and a signal corresponding to the connection position is input to a higher-level personal computer or the like. The host device recognizes the direction in which the operator wants to move the cursor from the signal corresponding to the switch connection position, and executes, for example, a process of continuously moving the cursor in that direction while the switch is connected.

The user moves the finger within the range of the panel surface while confirming the boundary with “a” by the tactile sensation of the finger, and sets the cursor at a predetermined position while confirming the screen display. On the other hand, when it is desired to keep moving the cursor in the designated direction, the finger moving on the panel is moved to the annular convex portion 2a.
When you feel the touch, move your finger out of the panel area. Then, when the switch 3 surrounding the outside of the panel surface is touched from above the operation sheet 2, the switch contact at the predetermined position is connected, and a signal corresponding to the connection position is input to the upper personal computer. The host device recognizes the direction in which the operator wants to move the cursor from the signal corresponding to the switch connection position, and executes, for example, a process of continuously moving the cursor in that direction while the switch is connected.
