Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart pearl gloss having depth to artificial pearls and cultured pearl by applying pearl essence on the surfaces of pearl nuclei for which quartz or quartz crystal is used. SOLUTION: The cultured pearls are obtd. by inserting the pearl nuclei consisting of the quartz or the rock crystal into pearly oysters and culturing these pearly oysters. While the quartz or the rock crystal used for the artificial pearls may be formed to any shapes, the impartation of the pearl gloss having the deeper depth to the resulted artificial pearls is made possible when the pearls are formed to, above all, a spherical shape, elliptically spherical shape and baroque which is the deformed body of the spherical shape. The size thereof is preferably 3 to 20 mm in diameter. The films of arbitrary thicknesses may be obtd. by repeating the stage of applying the pearl essence on the pearl nuclei and drying the coating. The preferably thickness is 0.05 to 0.2 mm. The size of the quartz or the rock crystal to be used for the cultured pearl is preferably 4 the 8 mm in diameter for the purpose of preventing the dislodgment of the pearl nuclei from the pearly oysters.

2. Description of the Related Art Artificial pearls are generally produced by applying a pearl essence having pearl luster to the surface of plastic, glass or shell having a predetermined shape. Cultured pearls are produced by inserting a pearl nucleus made from a shell of a mussel into a pearl mussel and culturing it.

[0003] The pearl luster of pearls is caused by the reflection and absorption of light by a coating made of pearl essence of artificial pearls and a coat of cultured pearls. The pearl luster of artificial pearls differs in color and the like depending on the pearl essence of the film.

However, since the thickness of the artificial pearl film made of pearl essence is thinner than the thickness of the mantle film made of natural pearls and cultured pearls, the pearl luster with a deep pearly luster is low. I can't get it. For this reason,
Artificial pearls are inferior in thickness and calmness, and their commercial value is significantly lower than cultured pearls and the like.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the invention made of artificial pearls is obtained by applying pearl essence to the surface of a pearl nucleus made of quartz or quartz.

[0008] Quartz or quartz used as a pearl nucleus is
It is a crystal having excellent light transmittance. Light that has entered the inside of the quartz or quartz causes some scattering of light due to phenomena such as dispersion and birefringence. For this reason, even when light enters from one direction, the light splits in multiple directions inside the quartz or quartz and exits outside.

On the other hand, in the case of glass, although some dispersion occurs, birefringence and the like hardly occur because it is amorphous. Therefore, when light enters from one direction, almost no scattering occurs inside the quartz or quartz,

Therefore, when a film is formed by applying a pearl essence to the surface of quartz or quartz, light transmitted through the film causes some scattering in the pearl nucleus, unlike the case of using glass. Light split in multiple directions exits through the film.

The quartz or quartz used as the pearl nucleus is a silicon oxide mineral and is a crystal having excellent light transmittance. The quartz or quartz used for the artificial pearl of the present invention can have any shape. As a method of applying the pearl essence to the pearl nucleus, any method can be adopted. Examples thereof include an immersion method (dipping method) in which a pearl nucleus is dipped in a pool of pearl essence, and a method in which pearl essence is sprayed on the pearl nucleus.

The above-mentioned pearl essence is applied once to a pearl nucleus and dried to obtain a film having a thickness of about 0.01 mm. By repeating the coating and drying steps, the thickness of the film can be set to an arbitrary thickness. The thickness of this film is not particularly limited, but may be 0.0
5 to 0.2 mm is preferred. If it is thinner than 0.05mm,
It is difficult to obtain sufficient pearl luster. Although it may be thicker than 0.2 mm, sufficient pearl luster is obtained with 0.2 mm, which is preferable from an economical viewpoint.

When the artificial pearl according to the present invention receives light, a part of the artificial pearl is reflected on the surface of the film to give a pearl luster. Some other light passes through the film and enters the pearl nucleus inside. At this time, the light that has entered the interior causes some light scattering due to phenomena such as dispersion and birefringence. For this reason, even if light enters from one direction,
Within the quartz or quartz, light is split in multiple directions and exits to the outside.

In the invention relating to the cultured pearl, quartz or quartz is used as the pearl nucleus. This quartz or quartz is the same as the quartz or quartz used in the invention relating to the above-mentioned artificial pearl. The size is not particularly limited, but is preferably 4 to 8 mm in diameter in order to prevent enucleation, that is, to prevent the pearl nucleus from falling off the pearl oyster. The mantle strip is a tissue that secretes nacre,
A shiny nacre covers the surface of the pearl nucleus and forms a mantle coat.

The cultured pearl obtained in this way has a thicker mantle coat as compared with the artificial pearl, and produces a deep pearl luster without using quartz or quartz as the pearl nucleus.
When quartz or quartz is used as the pearl nucleus, for the same reason as in the case of the above-described artificial pearl invention, a deeper pearl luster can be generated, and the quality and the like can be further improved.
