Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage of a magnetic disk by a slider and improve a magnetic recording and reproducing efficiency by forming a curved portion at a periphery of a sliding surface side of the slider of a magnetic head device which includes the slider in a rectangular parallelepiped shape, having the sliding surface which relatively slides against a flexible magnetic disk with a specific coercive force, and has a recording and reproducing magnetic gap for a specific large capacity. SOLUTION: A slider 11 has a sliding face 11b which faces a magnetic disk surface having a coercive force of 1500Oe or more. A magnetic head to be accommodated into the slider 11 has a gap portion for recording and reproducing at 100MB or more at the sliding face 11b. A periphery of the slider 11 is blend-processed with a tape-type abrasive material to form a curved portion 11c with a width size C of 10 to 200μm and a depth size D of 1 to 100μm. When the magnetic disk rotates at a fast rotating speed, a negative pressure acts on the periphery portion of the sliding surface 11b, thereby maintaining an appropriate distance between the magnetic head and the magnetic disk surface.
