Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.複雑度決定装置であって、 データ入力信号(DATA IN)を受ける入力端子(5)と、データ入力信号(DATA I N)を表す符号化出力信号(DATA OUT)を一定ビットレートで出力するデータ出力端 子とをもつエンコーダ(14)であって、データ入力信号(DATA IN)に応答して 、データ入力信号(DATA IN)を表していて、量子化ステップ・サイズ制御信号( QMB)に応じて、量子化ステップ・サイズをセットさせる量子化信号を出力する 可変量子化器(46)を含んでいるものと、 符号化出力信号(TMB)のビットレートと割当量入力信号(Q)に応答して、 量子化ステップ・サイズ制御信号(QMB)を出力するビットレート・レギュレー タ(49)と、 量子化ステップ・サイズ制御信号(QMB)と割当量入力信号に応答して、量子 化ステップ・サイズおよび符号化出力信号(TMB)のビットレートに関係する複 雑度を表す信号(Xpic)を生成する複雑度アナライザ(16)と を備えていることを特徴とする複雑度決定装置。 2.請求項1に記載の複雑度決定装置において、複雑度アナライザ(16)は、 する複雑度を表す信号(Xpic)を生成することを特徴とする複雑度決定装置。 3.請求項2に記載の装置において、複雑度アナライザ(16)は、量子化ステ ップ・サイズ(QMB)の平均と符号化出力信号(TMB)の積である複雑度を表す 信号(Xpic)を生成することを特徴とする装置。 4.請求項1に記載の装置において、 データ信号(DATA IN)はシーケンスに並んだピクチャ・グループからなり、各 ピクチャ・グループがあらかじめ決められた個数のフレームを含んでいるビデオ 信号であり、 エンコーダ(14)は、動画専門家グループ(MPEG)に従って動作し、ビ デオ信号に含まれる各シーケンス・フレームをあらかじめ決められた個数のマク ロブロックに分割し、あらかじめ決められた個数のマクロブロックの各々を順次 にそれぞれのビット数に符号化して、シーケンスの符号化ピクチャを含む符号化 出力信号を出力し、 ビットレート・レギュレータ(49)は、あらかじめ決められた個数のマクロ ブロックの各々ごとにそれぞれの量子化ステップ・サイズ制御信号を出力し、 複雑度アナライザ(16)は、 エンコーダのデータ出力端子(TMB)に結合されていて、各符号化マク ロブロックごとにエンコーダのデータ出力端子(TMB)から出力されたそれぞれ のビット数を加算して、符号化ピクチャ・シーケンスの各々の中の総ビット数( Tpic)を出力する第1アキュムレータ(92,93)と、 ビットレート・レギュレータ(49)に結合されていて、シーケンス・ ピクチャの各々に含まれる各マクロブロックのそれぞれの量子化ステップ・サイ ズ制御信号(QMB)を加算する第2アキュムレータ(96,97)と、 第2アキュムレータ(96,97)に結合されていて、シーケンス・ピ クチャの各々に含まれる各マクロブロックの平均量子化ステップ・サイズ と、 第1アキュムレータ(92,93)と平均化回路(98,99)に結合 されていて、総ビット数(Tpic)に平均量子化ステップ・サイズ信号 チャ複雑度信号(Xpic)を出力する乗算器(94)と、 ピクチャ・グループに含まれるピクチャの各々のそれぞれのピクチャ複 雑度信号を加算して、複雑度を表わす信号を出力する第3アキュムレータ(30 )とを含んでいる ことを特徴とする装置。
