Regarding the joint section. In the rotary joint part of the windshield wiper, the rotary shaft is connected by a lever to a swing rod driven by a motor. The windshield wiper is attached to one end of the rotary shaft. The housing surrounding the rotating shaft is typically urged in one direction by a spring washer provided between the housing and the lever. A C-clip is provided in a recess formed in the second end of the rotating shaft. Due to manufacturing tolerances of components in the revolute joint, a number of different washers and shims are provided between the C-clip and one end of the housing, thereby ensuring a tight operation in the revolute joint. An assembly is provided. However, the additional need for multiple shims and washers to control excessive axial play between the housing and the C-clip on the rotating shaft means additional labor during assembly to the rotary joint. Parts will be required. However, a holding clip is required for a rotary joint portion, such as a windshield wiper rotary joint portion, which requires less labor and a smaller number of parts than conventionally devised rotary joint portions. It is desirable to provide it. Conventionally, a rotary shaft plated with nickel has been used for the rotary joint part of the windshield wiper, but it has been suggested that the plating process should be eliminated. Thus, it would be desirable to provide a rotary joint that does not require a plated surface on the rotary shaft. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is directed to a revolute joint having a revolving shaft having first and second ends. A shaft is connected to the shaft for bi-directional rotation about a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends of the shuff. A housing surrounds the shaft. Retaining clip means is mounted and fixed near one end of the shaft and engages the housing. The retaining clip comprises an annular disc having a center opening surrounded by a preferably frustoconical annulus. An annular edge surrounding the opening forms a shaft engaging surface that frictionally engages the shaft to retain the housing against axial movement with respect to the rotating shaft. One end of the rotary shaft is connected and fixed to a rotary lever, and is rotatable with respect to the housing together with the lever. Preferably, the rotary joint portion of the present invention further comprises a biasing means provided between the support washer attached to the other end of the housing and the lever, for biasing the housing away from the lever. . Further, the biasing means includes a wave washer provided at one end of the rotary shaft. In a different embodiment, a pair of retaining clips frictionally engage opposite ends of the rotating shaft, respectively. One retaining clip seats on the rotating lever and engages the shaft, and the other retaining clip frictionally engages opposite ends of the rotating shaft. Each of the embodiments of the present invention has a simple structure and a low cost, and is for preventing an excessive movement of the housing in the axial direction with respect to the rotating shaft or a lever or a link connected to the shaft. (EN) A rotary joint part capable of eliminating the need for shims, washers and the like. The retaining clip is easily inserted over one end of the rotating shaft to connect to a support washer provided at one end of the housing surrounding the shaft and frictionally engage the shaft. The above arrangement can receive the C-clip and thus eliminate the need for an annular recess provided in the rotating shaft. As a special example, the rotary joint part of the present invention is suitable for use in the rotary joint part of the windshield wiper in which the windshield wiper is fixedly connected to one end of the rotary shaft. The other end of the shaft is connected and fixed to a link that is rotated in both directions by a rotary lever or a swing lever driven by a drive motor. In another embodiment, the rotating shaft is hardened to a predetermined hardness by nitriding or tempering. The retaining clip or clips are similarly cured, but to a higher hardness than the hardness of the rotating shaft to ensure a firm frictional engagement between the retaining clip and the rotating shaft. The traditional use of nickel plating the shaft by curing the shaft and retaining clip is eliminated, thereby reducing the cost of the revolute joint and the cost and environmental problems associated with such nickel coatings. It can be avoided. "Brief Description of the Drawings" Features, advantages and other applications of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description and drawings. FIG. 3 is an elevation side view in which a part of a rotary joint portion constructed according to an embodiment of the present invention is sectioned, FIG. 4 is a sectional view of a holding clip shown in FIG. 3, and FIG. FIG. 6 is an enlarged side view of a holding clip constructed according to another embodiment of the present invention. The figure is an enlarged sectional view taken along line 7-7 in FIG. 6, and FIG. 8 is an enlarged sectional view of an edge portion of the holding clip taken along line 8-8 in FIG. [Description of Embodiments] In the drawings, in particular, in FIG. 1, a conventional rotary joint part especially devised for use as a rotary joint part of a windshield wiper for rotatably connecting a windshield wiper to a rotary lever. An example is shown. The revolute joint 10 has a tubular, typically hollow, cylindrical housing 12 having first and second ends 14 and 16 facing each other. The housing 12 is formed of a suitable material, for example a metal material such as plastic or zinc die cast. The rotating shaft 18 has a first end 20 and an opposite second end 22. The rotating shaft 18 has a cylindrical shape or a cylindrical shape, and is typically formed of a metal such as steel, and the outside thereof is nickel-plated or coated. The second end 22 of the rotary shaft 18 is connected and fixed to the rotary lever 24 by a suitable means such as a rivet 26. Typically, the rivet 26 is formed as an integral extension with the second end 22 of the rotating shaft 18 and has an outer end 28 swaged to engage and lock the lever 24. . In the prior art, the lever 24 comprises a short metal link whose opposite ends are connected to a rocker rod (both not shown) driven by a motor. The embodiment shown in FIG. 1 illustrates a so-called bottom-mounted windshield wiper, in which the bottom of the rotary shaft 18 or the second end 22 is in the normal mounting direction on the fire wall of the vehicle. , Connected to the rotary lever 24. Opposing first ends 20 of the rotating shaft 18 extend outwardly from the lever 24 and have hitherto reached a windshield wiper, not shown. The windshield wiper is fixed to the first end 20 of the rotary shaft 18 by a suitable fixing means. As shown in FIG. 1, biasing means such as springs or corrugated washers 30 are mounted near the second end of the rotating shaft 18 and are seated on the lever 24. A support washer 32 is located between the second end 16 of the housing 12 and the corrugated washer 30. The housing 12 is connected and fixed to the rotary shaft 18 by a C-clip 34 that snaps into an annular recess 36 formed in the rotary shaft 18. Two or three or more shims to prevent excessive axial movement of the housing 12 relative to the rotary shaft 18 and the lever 24 due to stacking manufacturing tolerances and assembly tolerances of the rotary shaft 18 and the housing 12. A support washer 38 is provided in layers between the recess 36 for the C-clip 34 on the rotary shaft 18 and the housing 12. The required number of support washers 38 depends on the distance between the recess 36 of the C-clip 34 and the housing 12. An appropriate number of washers 38 are added so that the washers 38 are stacked or stacked so that they are substantially aligned with the C-clip 34 when the C-clip 34 is mounted in the recess 36 on the rotating shaft 18. . FIG. 2 shows a rotary joint portion 40 of a conventional so-called top-mounted windshield wiper. The rotary joint part 40 is substantially the same as the above-described rotary joint part 10 shown in FIG. 1 and includes a hollow cylindrical housing 42 surrounding a rotary shaft 48. The housing 42 has a first end 44 and a second opposite 46. A biasing means, such as a wave washer 50, sits between the rotating lever 52 and the support washer 54. The support washer 54 is disposed between the wave washer 50 and the second end 46 of the housing 42. In the above embodiment, a plurality of splines 56 are formed on the rotating shaft 48 adjacent the first end 58 of the rotating shaft 48. The spline 56 is provided in the opening formed in the lever 52 and in the peripheral portion of the lever 52 that defines the opening, and as described in the embodiment shown in FIG. At this time, since the rotary shaft 48 is fixed to the rotary lever and simultaneously rotated, it is formed by swaging or punching in a ring shape so as to be fixed in contact with the spline 56. The C-shaped retaining clip 62 is mounted in an annular recess 64 formed adjacent the second end 60 of the rotating shaft 48. A plurality of shims or support washers 66 are mounted between the first end 44 of the housing 42 and the C-clip 62 in a suitable number to remove substantially all of the clearance therebetween, as well as the C- It prevents excessive axial movement of the housing 42 between the clip 62 and the rotary lever 52. Returning to FIG. 3, which shows a revolute joint constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a number of which are required in the prior art revolute joints shown in FIGS. The shim or support washer 38 or 66 is removed. The rotary joint 70 also includes a tubular, hollow-cylindrical housing 72 and has a first end 74 and a second end 76 opposite thereto. The rotating shaft 78 is provided in the housing 72 and extends along the housing. The rotating shaft 78 has a first end 80 and a second end 82 facing the first end 80. The rivet 84 can be used to mount and secure the second end 82 of the rotating shaft 78 to the rotating lever 84 in a manner similar to that shown in FIG. 1 and described above. The rotary joint portion 70 also includes biasing means 88 such as a spring or a wave washer. The support washer 90 is mounted between the lever 86 and the second end 76 of the housing 72. A single support washer 92 is additionally provided in contact with the first end 74 of the housing 72 to provide a rotational support surface for the retaining clip 94. According to the present invention, the holding means 94 is provided at a position close to the first end 80 of the rotary shaft 78 so as to frictionally engage with the rotary shaft 78. The retaining means 94 seats on a support washer 92 to frictionally engage the outer surface of the rotating shaft 78 and to maintain a determined dimensional relationship between the rotating shaft 78, the housing 72 and the rotating lever 86. The axial movement of the housing 72 with respect to the shaft 78 and / or the lever 86 is thereby prevented. As shown in detail in FIG. 4, the retaining clip means 94 in the preferred embodiment comprises an annular body centrally located and having a substantially circular opening 96 formed therein. The truncated circular cone-shaped annular body 98 is formed on the main body 94 by an appropriate means, and is formed so as to extend from the outer periphery of the main body 94 to the opening 96. When forming the truncated cone-shaped annulus 98, the opening 96 is formed with an edge 100 that engages the shaft with a smaller diameter than the outermost non-contact edge 102 that is remote. The diameter of the opening 96 at the edge 100 that engages the shaft is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the rotating shaft 78, so that the body 94 causes the first end 80 of the rotating shaft 78, as shown in FIG. On the other hand, when forcedly pushed in, the shaft engaging edge 100 frictionally engages the outer surface of the rotating shaft 78. The rotary shaft 78 can be formed of steel with nickel plated or coated on its outer surface, similar to that shown in FIG. 1 above. In the above embodiment, the retaining clip 94 can be formed of suitable steel for positive and secure engagement with the rotating shaft 78. In assembly of the rotary joint 70, the rotary shaft 78 is first connected and secured to the rotary lever 86 by suitable fasteners and methods, such as rivets 84. The biasing wave washer 88, the support washer 90 and the housing 72 are then mounted around the rotating shaft 78. The other support washer 92 then abuts the first end 74 of the housing 72 and is mounted around the rotating shaft 78. A retaining clip means or disc 94 is mounted over the first end 80 of the rotating shaft 78 and is urged into engagement with the support washer 92. Upon release of the force applied to the retaining clip 94, the spring force of the wave washer 88 causes the retaining clip 94 and the housing 72 to produce a light sprigback, as predetermined. Since the diameter of the shaft engaging edge 100 of the holding clip 94 is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the rotating shaft 78, the shaft engaging edge 100 of the holding clip 94 frictionally engages with the outer surface of the rotating shaft 78 to form the rotating shaft. 78 and the housing 72 are held substantially immovable and they are held in a predetermined axial dimensional relationship with respect to each other and to the lever 86 so that there is no additional axial movement or play. . The rotary joint portion 110 according to another embodiment of the present invention shown in FIG. 5 is used for a rotary joint portion of a so-called top-mounted windshield wiper assembly. The rotary joint part 110 is the same as the rotary joint part 70 shown in FIG. 3 in that the hollow cylindrical housing 112 surrounds the rotary shaft 114 connected and fixed to the rotary lever 116. The rotating shaft 114 has a first end 118 and a second end 120 and is arranged on the rotating lever 116, as shown in FIG. Like the rotary joint portion 70 shown in FIG. 3, the rotary joint portion 110 comprises biasing means such as springs or wave washers and support washers, which are the lever 116 and one end 126 of the housing 112. Mounted between and. The second support washer 128 is disposed about the second end 120 of the rotating shaft 114 so as to contact the second end 130 of the housing 112. In the above embodiment, identically formed retaining clips 132 and 134 are used to interconnect the rotating shaft 114, the housing 112 and the rotating lever 116. The first retaining clip 132 is identical to the retaining clip 94 shown in FIG. 4 and is slid through the first end 118 of the rotating shaft 114 and frictionally engages one side of the rotating lever 116. The shaft engaging edge of the retaining clip 132 frictionally engages the outer surface of the rotating shaft 114 to connect and secure the rotating shaft 114 to the rotating lever 116. The second retaining clip 134 is slid over the second end 120 of the rotating shaft 114 and engages the second support washer 128. The shaft engaging edge of the second retaining clip 134 frictionally engages the rotating shaft 114. Thus, the first and second retaining clips 132 and 134 engage and retain the rotating shaft 114 with respect to the housing 112 and the rotating lever 116 in an axially fixed positional relationship. In the preferred embodiment, shafts 78 and 114 are formed of a suitable high strength material, such as stainless steel AISI 410, and are hardened to the desired hardness by suitable means. For example, a conventional heat treatment method is applied to the shafts 78 and 114. In the following description, the entire cross section of the shaft 78 will be hardened, as far as the shaft is concerned. Preferably, the surface of the shaft 78 is hardened by carbonitriding, which is generally known as a tempering or nitriding method. The shaft 78 can be hardened to an appropriate hardness level depending on the needs of a particular application. For use in the rotation joint of FIG. 3 or exemplary windshield wiper shown in FIG. 5, the shaft 78 or 114 is a hardness 32-3 5R c. It will be understood, however, that the above hardness is only mentioned in the examples, since the shaft can be hardened to other hardnesses below depending on the needs of the particular application. . Another embodiment of the retaining clip 140 used on the shaft 78 or 114 is shown in FIGS. 6-8. The retaining clip 140 comprises an integrally formed metal body 142, and any suitable material such as steel, stainless steel, or the like is used to form the body 142 of the retaining clip 140. By way of example only, the body is carbon steel AISI 1050, preferably body 142 is in the form of a ring obtained by stamping or punching from a blank. The body 142 is formed with a generally flat peripheral flange 144, which has a predetermined radius, as indicated by reference numeral 146 in FIG. By a suitable punching process, a frusto-conical annular body 148 having a substantially dome shape is formed on the main body 142 and extends outward from the flat portion of the outer peripheral flange 144. The frustoconical annulus 148 is disposed at a predetermined angle to the peripheral flange 144 of the body 142 of the retaining clip 140, as shown at 150 in FIG. According to this embodiment, 2, 0 and 3 ... between the upper surfaces of the annular body 148 and the peripheral flange 144. A radius of 00 mm, preferably 2.5 mm, is formed, and the upper surface of the annular body 148 is arranged at an angle of approximately 155 ° from the upper surface of the peripheral flange 144. Simultaneously with or after the frusto-conical annulus 148 is formed on the body 142, the aperture indicated by reference numeral 152 may be stamped or punched to form an outer edge or outer edge of the peripheral flange 144. It is formed concentrically with the inside of the body 142 with respect to the diameter portion. The periphery of the frustoconical annulus 148, which is surrounded by the opening 152, has two opposing edges, a shaft engaging edge or shaft engaging surface including a first diameter surface 154, and a non-shaft. The engagement edge, or the annular portion of the annulus 148 projecting from the flat surface of the peripheral flange 144, forms a surface 156 of a second diameter greater than the first diameter of the shaft engagement edge 154. As shown in FIG. 8, the shaft engaging surface is disposed at a predetermined angle indicated by reference numeral 158 with respect to a vertical axis extending from the body 142 and parallel to a central axis extending from the shaft engaging edge 154. Through the opening 152 of the body 142 in the retaining clip 140, as well as providing a predetermined locking force for firmly anchoring and positioning the retaining clip 140 on the shaft 78. It provides an elastic force for inserting the shaft 78 in one direction. However, the angle 158 of the circumferential surface of the annular body 148 and the angle 150 of the frustoconical annular body with respect to the peripheral flange 144 are opposite to the insertion direction of the shaft 78 made through the opening 152 of the body 142. Selected to suppress the movement of 78. According to this embodiment, the body 142 of the retaining clip 140 is hardened to a hardness level greater than and higher than that of the shaft 78 by a suitable heat treatment means such as tenifering, carbonitriding or the like. Thus, in a typical use of the shaft 78 in the windshield wiper revolute joint shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the retaining clip 140 is cured to de-stressed 43-45 R c . Further, the body 142 may be coated with a corrosion resistant coating 160. Such a corrosion resistant coating 160 is formed of a suitable material such as zinc dichromate, copper oxide, zinc plate, black cadmium, 15 black chromate, and the like. The corrosion resistant coating 160 may be applied to the body 142 of the retaining clip 140 by any suitable method such as coating or electrostatic coating. Further, the body 142 can be cast to provide additional spring force to enhance the locking of the shaft engaging edge 154 to the shaft 78. In the particular example of using a 12 mm diameter shaft 78 with a tenifer treatment to a hardness of 32-35 R c , the retaining clip 140 has the entire surface at the shaft engaging edge 154 prior to application of the optional corrosion resistant coating. The outer diameter is 19.90 mm, the inner diameter is 11.75 mm, and the thickness of the peripheral flange 144 is 1. It is 06 mm. An angle 158 between the shaft engaging surface 152 between the shaft engaging edge 154 and the non-engaging edge 156 and an axis extending in the vertical direction from the shaft engaging edge is approximately 19 °. Due to the above dimensions and the aforementioned hardness relationship between the retaining clip 140 and the shaft 78, it is possible to withstand a 3K Newtonno pull-out force. Other features of the above embodiment are also shown in FIGS. 6 and 7. In the above embodiment, the retaining clip 140 is hardened with greater hardness than the shaft 78 to which it is attached. However, in this embodiment, the body 142 of the retaining clip 140 is provided with a plurality of notches 162 formed in the shaft engaging surface 152, preferably from the non-shaft engaging edge 156 to the surface 152. It is provided so as to extend completely to the shaft engaging edge. Equally spaced notches 162 on three circles are shown by way of example in FIG. 6, but the number of notches 162 is not limited to this and can be formed in body 142. The notch 162 is also generally bow-shaped as shown in FIG. 6, has a depth of about 0.5 mm, and is formed with straight side surfaces such as a square, a rectangle, and a triangle. The notch 162 extends radially outward from the opening 152 to the frustoconical annulus 148 and is discontinuous with the shaft engaging edge 154 of the body 142, as shown in FIG. A formed, non-contacting shaft engaging edge 154 is provided. Prior to assembly, the retaining clip 140 and the shaft 78 should be grease free to maximize the retaining force of the retaining clip 140 on the shaft 78. In summary, traditional rotary joints, such as those that attach windshield wipers, require a smaller number of parts and a unique rotary joint that eliminates the need for increased shims and washers. The joint section was described. By using a retaining clip having a center opening surrounded by a frusto-conical annulus, the retaining clip easily frictionally engages the rotating shaft, while at the same time retaining the support washer and the shaft to retain the rotating shaft. Pressing against the surrounding housing, the housing and the rotating lever are connected to one end of the rotating shaft, thereby providing a dimensionally fixed arrangement with no additional axial play or movement of the housing between the retaining clip and the lever. . In order to eliminate the nickel plating employed in the rotary joints of conventional windshield wipers, preferably all or at least the surface of the rotary shaft is hardened to a suitable hardness. In this embodiment, the retaining clip is hardened to a hardness higher than that of the rotating shaft to ensure frictional engagement between the retaining clip and the rotating shaft.
