Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent suffocation even when the knock cover of a propelling pencil is swallowed by mistake when detached from a lead pipe and to prevent the slip-off of the extra lead in the lead pipe in the state fitted to the lead pipe. SOLUTION: In the knock cover 1 provided to the opening part of a lead pipe housing extra leads in a freely detachable manner and constituted so that the top end surface 2 thereof can be pressed by a finger in order to deliver a writing lead, a depressed surface 3 having depth equal to or more than the wall thickness of the top end surface 2 is provided to the top end surface 2 to provide lateral holes 4 to the stepped part of the depressed surface 3 and the top end surface 2.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a mechanical pencil knock cover.

2. Description of the Related Art The knock cover of a general mechanical pencil is designed to press the top end surface of a writing lead with a finger in order to feed it out, but at the same time, it closes the open end of a lead pipe for accommodating a replacement lead. Since it also functions as a lid, it can be freely attached to and detached from the core pipe. Therefore, the conventional knock cover may be accidentally swallowed when it is removed from the core pipe, and there is a risk of clogging the throat and choking. In order to eliminate this danger, it is conceivable to provide a ventilation hole on the top end surface of the knock cover, but this causes a problem that the replacement core in the core pipe falls out through the ventilation hole.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, the present invention can prevent suffocation even if it is accidentally swallowed when removed from the core pipe, and the fall of the replacement core in the core pipe in the state of being fitted to the core pipe. The purpose is to provide a novel knock cover that can prevent this.

In order to achieve the above object, the knock cover of the mechanical pencil of the present invention is detachably attached to the open end of the lead pipe 5 for accommodating the refill 6, and is used for feeding the writing lead. In a knock cover 1 in which the top end face 2 can be pressed with a finger, a recessed face 3 having a depth equal to or larger than a wall thickness is provided in a part of the top end face 2, and a step portion between the recessed face 3 and the top end face 2 is provided. In the knock cover 1 of the present invention, when it is removed from the core pipe 5, the air that has entered the inside from the opening at one end is a lateral hole opened at the step between the top end face 2 and the recessed face 3 at the other end. Since it goes out through 4 to ensure the air circulation between both ends, there is no suffocation even if it is accidentally swallowed and clogged in the throat.

Embodiments of the present invention shown in the drawings will be described below. First, FIGS. 1 to 3 show a first embodiment. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a recessed surface 3 is provided in a straight line so as to cross the central portion of the top end surface 2 of the knock cover 1, and the top end surface 2 is divided into two. The depth of the recessed surface 3, that is, the distance from the top end surface 2 to the recessed surface 3 is slightly larger than the thickness of the top end surface 2, and a lateral hole 4 is formed in the step portion between the top end surface 2 and the recessed surface 3.

FIG. 3 shows a state in which the knock cover 1 is fitted in the open end of the core pipe 5 and the mechanical pencil is turned upside down. The replacement core 6 accommodated in the core pipe 5 is received by the inner surface portion of the top end surface 2 or the depressed surface 3, and there is no fear of falling out from the lateral hole 4. In FIG. 3, reference numeral 7 is an outer shaft.

FIG. 4 shows a second embodiment. In the knock cover 8 of the second embodiment, the top end face 9 is divided into four by providing the top end face 9 with the recessed face 10 which is orthogonal to each other and has a plane cross shape, and the step difference between the top end face 9 and the recessed face 10. A horizontal hole 11 is opened in the portion.

Further, FIG. 5 shows a third embodiment. The knock cover 12 of the third embodiment has a top end surface 1

As described above, the shape of the depression surface provided on the top end surface of the knock cover is arbitrary. When the ratio of the depressed surface to the top end surface is increased, the opening area of the lateral hole is also increased, and the air circulation between both ends of the knock cover is improved.
However, the top end surface is also a portion for pushing out the writing core by pressing it with a finger, and if the ratio of the depressed surface is made too large, it becomes difficult to perform the knocking operation.

The knock cover 1 of the present invention having the above-mentioned structure has an effect of preventing suffocation when accidentally swallowed in a state where the knock cover 1 is detached from the core pipe 5, and is fitted on the core pipe 5. In this state, there is an effect that it is possible to prevent the extra core 6 from falling off from the core pipe 5. Further, since the knock cover 1 of the present invention has a simple structure as described above, there is an advantage that even if the knock cover 1 has a relatively large outer diameter, it can be easily and inexpensively manufactured. Further, in the knock cover 1 of the present invention, when injection molding is performed by using a resin as a material, the injection gate portion can be provided in the depressed portion.
Alternatively, there is an advantage that the appearance of the molded product is convenient.

[Claims] 1. A knock cover (1) which is detachably attached to an open end of a lead pipe (5) for accommodating a replacement lead (6) and whose top end face (2) can be pressed with a finger for feeding out a writing lead. A knock cover for a mechanical pencil, characterized in that a recessed surface 3 having a thickness equal to or larger than a wall thickness is provided in a portion thereof, and a lateral hole 4 is opened in a step portion between the recessed surface 3 and the top end surface 2.
