Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly melt frost to shorten the defrosting operation period, in a device wherein a drain pan is provided at the lower part of an evaporator and a drain pan heater is set along the drain pan, by concentratedly installing the drain pan heater under the air suction side of the evaporator. SOLUTION: Air in refrigeration device is cooled while it flows through an evaporator 29 in a casing 23, and drain formed on the surface of the evaporator 29 drops into a drain pan 21 and is discharged through a drain hose. And during a defrosting operation, frost separated from the evaporator 29 also drops into the pan 21 and is melted by being heated by a drain pan heater 30 and discharged through the drain hose. In this case, the drain heater 30 is concentratedly disposed under the air suction side of the evaporator 29 where frost tends to drop during the defrosting operation. That is, space between the wires of the heater 30 arranged, in a serpentine pattern, in arm area, where frost tends to drop, is made narrower than the space in the other area, whereby frost dropping into the pan 21 from the evaporator 29 can be rapidly melted.
