Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect erroneous insertion by discriminating whether a proper device to be inserted/ejected is inserted or not when the device to be inserted/ejected is inserted into a system. SOLUTION: When the device to be inserted/ejected is first inserted into the correspondent inserting position of the system, a monitoring device reads the inserting position information and device class information of this device from the inserted device to be inserted/ejected and stores this information in a storage means as the device class information at the relevant inserting position (S1-S4). Next, when the device to be inserted/ejected is inserted into any inserting position of the system after the 2nd time, the monitoring device reads the inserting position information and device class information of this device from the inserted device to be inserted/ejected and discriminates whether this read device class information is coincident with the device class information of the relevant inserting position stored in its own storage means or not (S1-S3 and S5). When the information is not coincident, the download of operating information to be stored in the storage means is not performed to the device, which is inserted this time, to be inserted/ejected but the erroneous insertion is reported to an external device (S9 and S10).

2. Description of the Related Art A device such as a package in which electronic equipment is mounted on a printed board is sometimes used as needed by being inserted into or removed from a connector for connection in a system. Generally, there are often a plurality of types of devices to be inserted / removed (hereinafter referred to as insertion / removal devices), for example, assume that there are now three types of insertion / removal devices A, B, and C. And when the insertable / extractable devices A, B, and C are first used in the system, the connectors a, b, and
If it is inserted into c and used, the subsequent correspondence between each inserted / extracted device and its insertion position is normally limited to the first insertion position. Therefore, when the operator of the system inserts the insertion / extraction device into the system for the second time or later, the operator inserts the device after confirming that the insertion position is the correct insertion position based on the above correspondence.

Further, in the system, there is a control device for downloading operation information to the insertion / extraction device. This control device stores operation information including operation information for each device type of the insertion / extraction device in a nonvolatile memory such as a hard disk. The operation information included in the operation information has a different structure and content depending on the device type. Then, when the insertion / extraction device is first inserted into the system, the operation information of the insertion / extraction device at this insertion position is stored in the non-volatile memory in the control device from the host device or the like, and the stored operation information is It is downloaded to the device to be inserted and removed. Therefore, when the insertion / extraction device is inserted into a certain insertion position of the system after the second time, the control device considers that the insertion / extraction device has been inserted into the correct insertion position, and particularly performs the determination of the device type. Instead, the operation information stored in the memory at the insertion position is immediately downloaded to the insertion / extraction device, and the insertion / extraction device performs the operation based on the downloaded operation information.

However, the above-mentioned prior art has the following problems. For example, the insertion / extraction device A is first inserted into the insertion position a of the system, the operation by this device A is performed, and the insertion / extraction device A is removed while this operation information remains in the control device, When the insertion / extraction device B is incorrectly inserted into the insertion position a, the control device determines that the insertion / extraction device A has been inserted into the insertion position a.
The operation information of the device A is downloaded to the insertion / extraction device B. Since the insertion / removal devices A and B have different contents of operation information, the insertion / removal device B performs an abnormal operation. Then, as a result of the operator pursuing the cause of this abnormal operation, he finds that the wrong device to be inserted / removed is inserted, but in order to find out the cause, many advanced engineers who are familiar with the system There was a problem that it took time.
