SOLUTION: This television receiver is provided with the microcomputer 1 for controlling the television receiver, an ADC 2 being one function of the microcomputer 1, a socket 3 for setting the dry cell, a circuit 4 for synthesizing on-screen signals to video signals and a CRT 5. At the time of watching a television normally, since the dry cell is not set to the socket 3, a voltage inputted to the ADC 2 is 0 volt. In the case of checking the residual capacity of the dry cell in the middle of use, the dry cell is set to the socket 3. The voltage of the dry cell is inputted to the ADC 2 and the microcomputer 1 outputs a value corresponding to the voltage as the on-screen signals of red(R), green(G), blue(B) and switching signals.
