Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preclude the possibility of wounding the fingers of a user when an umbrella is opened and closed without deteriorating productivity by integrally arranging a safety cover part to house a knot of a finishing wire in a runner. SOLUTION: A housing groove 91 of a safety cover part 9 is a vertical groove opened in and communicated with a circumferential groove 82, and houses a knot 61. An outer frame 92 is continuously arranged on an inner wall of the housing groove 91, and projects to an upper end part of a lower runner 8, and is formed by closing an upper part in a circular arc shape. The inside of the outer frame 92 is formed in a housing chamber 92a communicated with the housing groove 91. A shielding wall 92b to shield a tip part of the knot 61 is formed in a front end part of the outer frame 92, and prevents the fingers of an umbrella user from touching the tip of the knot 61. Both end parts of a finishing wire 6 are bound together, and the knot 61 is made, and is pushed inside. Since the finishing wire 6 has elasticity, the knot 61 deflects, and a tip part of the knot 61 passes through the under side of the shielding wall 92b of the safety cover part 9, and is housed in the housing chamber 92a. The tip part of the knot 61 does not easily separate from inside of the housing chamber 92a by the shielding wall 92b.

As described above, in the western umbrella of the present invention, since the safety cover portion for accommodating the knot of the holding needle is integrally provided on the potter's wheel, there is no risk of damaging the user's hand when opening or closing the umbrella. There is no safe structure, and since the safety cover part is molded simultaneously with the potter's wheel, it does not increase the manufacturing cost.
