Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely support an electrode plate with a very simple supporting constitution and to obtain an excellent duplicate image by providing the electrode supporting member for positioning an end part of the plate shape electrode, on one side of which a tooth-shaped electric discharging part is formed, and the other side of which is formed in a L-shape. SOLUTION: The plate shape electrode 13, on which a number of tooth-shaped electric discharging parts 12 are formed with the same space, is set so as to face a surface of a photoreceptor with a specified space. Supporting openings 119 and 120 by which reference plane 114 and 115 is respectively formed for positioning the plate shape electrode 13 in order to support by inserting a bent part 13A whose one end edge is bent at right angle, of the plate shape electrode 13 whose sectional plane is formed in a shape of L-type inside the electrode supporting member 111 and 112 composed of an insulating material on both end of a back plate having a U-type sectional plane. The tooth-shaped electric discharging parts 12 of the plate shape electrode 13 are arranged on the specified position, by inserting either end of the plate shape electrode 13 together with the bent part 13A in the supporting openings 119 and 120, and holding the bent part 13A surface in contact with the reference surfaces 114 and 115.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, discharge electrodes for electrophotographic corona discharge are roughly classified into a wire discharge system (corotron, scorotron, dicorotron, etc.) and a pin discharge system (pin electrode type, serrated electrode type, etc.). It The latter has come to be used in electrophotographic copying machines, printers, etc. in recent years due to its low ozone generation amount. In particular, a charger having a structure using an electrode plate in which a plurality of sawtooth-shaped electrode portions are provided on one thin plate member is disclosed in JP-A-63-15272 and JP-A-5-157272.
It is disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 45999. A structure in which the serrated electrode portion is held by a part of the corona charging device main body and is detachable is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-289471, and both side surfaces of the serrated electrode portion are entirely held. The structure is disclosed in JP-A-6-83167. Further, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 7-84440 discloses a structure in which a sawtooth electrode portion is supported by a supporting member.

However, although such a serrated electrode plate is excellent in discharge performance, it is rigid because a thin plate-shaped metal plate such as stainless steel having a thickness of about 0.1 mm is used. In order to hold the sawtooth electrode plate in the correct position, it is necessary to use a high-precision machined member and attach it to a resin member made to hold the accurate position. However, there is a problem in that all of the electrode plates cannot be manufactured to a desired accuracy because the electrode plates cannot be attached to the correct positions depending on the attaching work because of the necessity of costly processing.

Further, the structure described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 6-83167, which holds the entire both side surfaces of the sawtooth electrode portion, increases the number of parts of the electrode device and makes the structure complicated.
Further, as disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 5-289471, there is disclosed a structure in which, when replacing an electrode plate having a reduced discharge effect, the electrode plate is detached from a corona charging device together with a supporting member provided fixedly. When replacing, the supporting member as well as the electrode plate had to be discarded, and there was much waste. Further, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 7-84440, the plate electrode is simply held by the supporting member, and the holding force is weak and the plate electrode becomes unstable during the discharging action, and good charging cannot be performed.
