Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an external conductor of simple structure and high strength having good high-frequency characteristics as well as a hydrid electrical connector having a coaxial connector with the external conductor and another type of a connector. CONSTITUTION: The intermediate section of an external conductor 7 has an approximately U-shaped cross section at a plane orthogonal with an internal connecting piece along the lengthwise direction thereof. Both side walls 18B of the conductor 7 are respectively formed flat. In addition, a V-shaped notch 19 expanding sideward is formed on the walls 18B. In this case, a coupling projection 20A and a recess 20B are formed on the opposite edges of the notch 19, and the intermediate section 18 is bent for allowing the contact of the opposite edges of the notch 19 after assembled into a housing at an end section other than the notch 19. Also, the projection 20A and the recess 20B are coupled to and engaged with each other approximately on the same plane.

2. Description of the Related Art A coaxial connector having an outer conductor formed by bending a metal plate so as to substantially surround an L-shaped internal connector in the longitudinal direction is disclosed, for example, in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. Heisei 2 (1999) -264.
There is one disclosed in 100276. In this known coaxial connector, as shown in FIGS. 14 and 15 of the accompanying drawings, an internal connector 53 is inserted from the front into an insertion hole 52 of an L-shaped block-shaped insulating housing 51, and a rear portion protruding outside the housing. The connection part 54 of the downward (direction of arrow P)
Bend to. The outer conductor 55 has side wall portions 57 on both sides of the top plate portion 56 so that the cross section in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is substantially U-shaped. From the top plate portion 56, as shown in FIG. As can be seen, through the necked neck 58, the lid 59 is rearward.
And a leg-shaped connecting portion 60 is provided at the tip of the lid portion 59. As shown in FIG. 14, the outer conductor 55 is fitted in the housing 51 in the arrow Q direction, and the lid portion 59 and the connecting portion 60 projecting rearward from the housing 51 are bent in the arrow R direction at the neck portion 58. , The housing 51
The rear opening is covered with the lid 59.
Thus, this coaxial connector is expected to have a good shield due to the outer conductor.

The neck portion 58 has a narrow neck so that the lid portion 59 can be easily bent at the neck portion 58. Therefore, the leg-shaped connecting portion 60 and the shield body side are electrically connected only by the thin neck portion 58. As a result, good high frequency characteristics cannot be obtained.

Further, in the composite electric connector assembled by inserting the coaxial connector into the housing of another type of connector, the housing of the coaxial connector and the housing of the other type of connector are formed in different structures. In addition to the increase in the number of steps and the number of parts, the cost becomes high, and the two housings have dimensional accuracy with respect to each other, which causes a problem in fitting.

In the first aspect of the present invention having such a structure, the outer conductor is fitted in the housing of the coaxial connector in which the inner connector is implanted, and the middle portion of the outer conductor is bent at the notch. When the edges of the notch that face each other are bent until they come into contact with each other, the protrusions and the recesses provided on both edges are fitted and firmly engaged with each other, and the rigidity of the intermediate portion is increased. As a result, the connection portion maintains good positional accuracy and has high strength against external force. Further, the contact surface between the protrusion and the recess and the contact surface at the opposite edge portion increase the conduction area.

Next, the protruding piece 12 of the housing 2 is bent downward to substantially close the rear opening of the connector hole 11 as shown in FIG. Only a very small gap remains between the bent projection 12 and the edge of the contact hole 11 and the internal connector 21 in the holding groove 29. A sealing material is applied to the gap to completely close the gap.

On the other hand, the outer conductor 7 is assembled from the front of the housing 2 so that the intermediate portion 18 is inserted into the slit groove 10, and the cylindrical portion 8 of the outer conductor 7 is formed into the columnar portion 6 of the housing as shown in FIG. Be fitted to. In this state, the rear portion of the slit groove 10 is projected from the vicinity of the cutout portion 19 formed in the intermediate portion 18. The outer conductor 7 may be incorporated into the housing before the application of the sealing material or before the inner connector 21 is incorporated.

Next, the outer conductor 7 is bent at the notch 19. Projection 2 formed in the notch 19 by bending
The 0A and the recessed portion 20B are firmly fitted to each other and firmly hold their shape, and the opposite edges of the cutout portion 19 at least partially contact each other. Thus, the fitting of the projection 20A and the recess 20B improves the strength of the external conductor 7 that is bent into an L-shape, and also increases the electrically conductive area.

The invention is not limited to the example shown. For example, the coaxial connector 5 can also be applied to one having two internal connectors. For example, as shown by the chain double-dashed line in FIGS. 9 and 12, another internal connector 31 which is in constant contact with the internal connector 21 is provided, and the center conductor of the mating connector and the internal connector 21 are connected. When the internal connector 2
The circuit can be opened by separating from the other internal connector 31 by the elastic deformation of 1.

In that case, in the other internal connector 31,
The contact portion 32 formed in the front portion is appropriately determined as shown in the drawing, but the portion behind the contact portion 32 is the internal connector 2 described above.
The holding portion 23 and the connecting portion 22 of one can have the same form. When such another internal connector 31 is used together with the internal connector 21, it goes without saying that the width of the protruding piece 12 bent to close the connector hole 11 is larger than that of the other internal connector 31. It becomes narrower by the thickness.

Further, when the outer conductor 7 is inserted into the housing 2, the rear surface of the housing can have a sealing property. As shown in FIG. 13, the slit of the slit groove 10 is formed by forming a groove 10A along the edge on one side of the slit groove 10 at the outlet of the inverted U-shaped slit groove 10 into which the intermediate portion of the outer conductor is inserted. An elastic tongue 10B is provided so as to narrow the width slightly. By doing so, the outer conductor 7
Is completely sealed at the rear surface of the housing when it is inserted.

As described above, the present invention forms a V-shaped notch in the side wall of the intermediate portion when forming an L-shaped outer conductor in the longitudinal direction as described above. Since the projecting portion and the recessed portion are provided at the opposite edges and the notch portion is bent to fit the projecting portion and the recessed portion, the strength of the outer conductor is further improved, and the leg-shaped connecting portion is connected to the circuit. When it is inserted into the board or the like, it is not easily deformed by the insertion force, and the position of the connecting portion is accurate, so that the above-mentioned insertion can be smoothly performed. Further, in addition to this, electrically, since the projecting portion and the recessed portion, or in addition, the opposing edges of the cutout portion are in contact with each other, the conduction area between the cylindrical portion at the front portion of the outer conductor and the connection portion is also large. Can be secured. as a result,
It is possible to improve the work efficiency of assembling on the circuit board and the high frequency characteristics.

Further, according to the present invention, the housing of the coaxial connector and the housing of the other type of connector can be integrally molded, so that the number of assembling steps and the number of parts can be reduced and the cost can be reduced. The problem that the assembly accuracy is lowered due to the assembling of both housings, which the connector has, is also solved.
