Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a lamp unit which is downsized and by which the number of part items belonging to this is reduced by forming curved surfaces of reflecting mirrors as a stepped reflecting surface. CONSTITUTION: A lamp unit is composed of a lamp 11, a connector 10 and a stepped reflecting mirror 9 having plural reflecting mirrors. After the lamp 11 is installed on the reflecting mirror 9, the terminal is installed in a groove of the connector 10 on the reverse side by a built-in screw. Since the stepped reflecting mirror 9 is used, the lamp unit having a similar light flux while being a smaller type than usual can be obtained. Since a required process is only to replace the service life completed lamp 11 when the lamp 11 is renewed, the replacement is quite easy.

2. Description of the Related Art A lamp unit conventionally used in a projection image device using a liquid crystal panel is shown in FIG. 4 and will be described. Conventionally, this type of lamp unit is made of a lamp 1, a reflecting surface 2 having a curved shape, a wire rod 3 required to supply electric power to the lamp 3, a metal fitting 4, screws 5, and a metal plate for surrounding and protecting them. A case 6, a reflecting mirror 2 having a curved shape, a fixing metal fitting 7 for fixing the case 6 made of sheet metal, and a connector 8 for receiving externally electric power necessary for lighting the lamp are provided. It is common.
