ヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルは工業用の防腐剤として有
用であるが、実用的な効力を得るには相当高濃度の添加
が必要である。また微生物の抵抗性を生じ、充分な効力
を得られない場合がある。このため各種の抗菌剤を組み
合わせ、抗菌スペクトルの安定化や作用力の増加が試み
られているが、通常はいずれも一方の発現にとどまる
か、相加平均的な効果しか得られていないのが現状であ

ニウムとパラヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルを有効成分と
して併せて含有した場合それぞれ単独で用いた場合と比
較して、飛躍的に抗菌力の増大することを見いだし、本
発明を完成した。すなわち本発明は塩化ベンザルコニウ
ムとパラヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルを有効成分として
含有することを特徴とする工業用抗菌組成物である。本
発明においては、必須の有効成分として塩化ベンザルコ
ニウムとパラヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルを含有させる
が、この際使用するパラヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルと
しては、メチル、エチル、プロピル、イソプロピル、ブ
チル、イソブチルエステル等があげられる。又、本発明
の抗菌組成物は使用目的に応じ、対象物に直接適用する
かあるいは固着剤などを混合して使用することも可能で
ある。本発明組成物中における有効成分の含有割合は特
に限定するものではないが塩化ベンザルコニウムとパラ
ヒドロキシ安息香酸エステルの配合比率は、重量比で1
00:1〜1:1とするのがよく、好ましくは50:1
