Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a liquid crystal display against pressure or impact being applied from a holding frame by interposing a resilient frame body between the holding frame and the liquid crystal display while preventing intrusion of foreign matter, e.g. dust, between a display window and the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION:The holding structure for a liquid crystal display 11 comprises a housing 12, a board 13, a resilient connector 14 for connecting the liquid crystal display 11 and the board 13 electrically, a holding frame 15 for securing the liquid crystal display 11 to the board 13, and a resilient frame 16 interposed between the liquid crystal display 11 and the holding frame 15. The resilient frame 16 has a rectangular shape corresponding to the holding frame 15 and the resilient frame 16 can be fitted in the holding frame 15. The resilient frame 16 comprises a horizontal frame part (first resilient body) 161 and a vertical frame part (second resilient body) 162 formed integrally. Since the resilient frame 16 absorbs pressure or impact being applied to the liquid crystal display 11 from the holding frame 15, the liquid crystal display 11 is protected against damage.

The liquid crystal display 1 has a box-shaped metal holding frame 2 covering the peripheral edge 1a thereof, and there is elasticity between the electrode surface 1b of the liquid crystal display 1 and the printed wiring board 3. A connector 4 having is arranged. Then, the leg portions 2a of the holding frame 2 are inserted into the square holes 3a formed in the printed wiring board 3, and the tips of the leg portions 2a are twisted on the back surface side of the printed wiring board 3, whereby the holding frame 2 is attached to the printed wiring board 3. The liquid crystal display 1 is attached to the printed wiring board 3 by this.
Is fixed at a predetermined position, and is also electrically connected to the printed wiring board 3 through the connector 4 which is in a state of being in pressure contact with the liquid crystal display 1 and the printed wiring board 3. Then, by mounting the printed wiring board 3 at a predetermined position in the housing 4 of the electronic device, the liquid crystal display 1 has its display surface 1c.
Is a display window 4a formed of a transparent member provided on the housing 4.
It is located in a state of being closely opposed to. Therefore, the operator can confirm the information displayed on the display surface 1c of the liquid crystal display 1 through the display window 4a.

By the way, in this type of holding structure, the housing 4
When a load is applied to the display window 4a and the peripheral portion thereof is deformed, the portion 2b itself of the holding frame 2 that covers the peripheral edge portion 1a of the liquid crystal display 1 may also be deformed, but in the conventional holding structure, As shown in FIG. 12, when the portion 2b of the holding frame 2 is deformed, a load is directly applied to the glass liquid crystal display 1, so that the liquid crystal display 1 may be damaged. Further, even if the holding frame 2 is not deformed when a shock is applied to the housing 4, the shock is transmitted from the metal holding frame 2 to the glass liquid crystal display 1 and the liquid crystal display 1 is damaged. Was sometimes reached.

The outer shape of the elastic body 16 is formed into a rectangular frame shape so as to correspond to the holding frame 15, and has a size that can be fitted inside the holding frame 15. Further, as shown in FIG. 4, the cross-sectional shape of the elastic body 16 is formed in an “L” shape, and the horizontal frame-shaped portion (first elastic body) 161 parallel to the horizontal plane and this frame-shaped portion 161. A vertical frame-shaped portion (second elastic body) 162 erected from the inner peripheral edge portion is integrally formed.

An elastic body 16 is fitted in the holding frame 15. As a result, as shown in FIG. 2, the elastic body 16 is in a state in which the horizontal frame-shaped portion 161 is in surface contact with the upper frame portion 151 of the holding frame 15, and the vertical frame-shaped portion 162 is in the upper frame portion 1.
It is in a state of protruding upward while being close to the peripheral edge of 51.

The liquid crystal display 11 is in a state in which the peripheral portion 11b is covered with the holding frame 15 in which the elastic body 16 is fitted, and the electrode surface 11c of the liquid crystal display 11 and the substrate 1 are provided.
A connector 14 is arranged between the connector 14 and the connector 3. Then, by attaching the holding frame 15 to the substrate 13 as described above, the liquid crystal display 11 is fixed at a predetermined position on the substrate 13 and also electrically via the connector 14.
Connected to. Then, by mounting the substrate 13 at a predetermined position in the housing 4, the liquid crystal display 11 is positioned such that its display surface 11a is close to and opposite to the display window 122. Therefore, the operator can confirm the information displayed on the display surface 11a of the liquid crystal display 11 through the display window 122.

Since the holding structure of this example has the above-mentioned structure, as shown in FIG. 3, the upper frame portion 151 of the holding frame 15 that covers the peripheral edge portion 11b of the liquid crystal display 11 on the display surface 11a side. The horizontal frame portion 161 of the elastic body 16 is sandwiched between the liquid crystal display 11 and the liquid crystal display 11. Therefore, even when a load is applied to the housing 12 and the display window 122 and its peripheral portion are deformed, and further, the upper frame portion 151 of the holding frame 15 is deformed, as shown in FIG.
Since the horizontal frame-shaped portion 161 of 6 absorbs the pressure of the holding frame 15, the liquid crystal display 11 itself is less likely to be damaged. Further, even if an impact is applied to the holding frame 15 itself due to a fall of the electronic device or the like, the impact of the holding frame 15 is absorbed by the horizontal frame portion 161, so that the impact received by the electronic device is difficult to be transmitted to the liquid crystal display 11.

Further, as shown in FIG. 4, the vertical frame portion 162 of the elastic body 16 is sandwiched between the wall surface 12a of the housing 12 (in this example, the wall surface of the display window 122) and the liquid crystal display 11. Has become. Therefore, foreign matter such as dust passing through the gap S1 formed between the inner wall surface 12a of the housing 12 and the holding frame 15 is blocked by the vertical frame-shaped portion 162, so that the space between the display window 122 and the liquid crystal display 11 is blocked. It is possible to prevent foreign matter from entering.
