Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure high operability of a lever even in the case where there is a limitation in a mounting environment by forming a pair of spread diametric parts in a protruding end of each support shaft. CONSTITUTION: In both end surfaces in the lengthwise direction of a female housing 10, a pair of support shafts 16 for supporting a lever 30 are protrusively formed by conforming an axial line. Spread diametric parts 17A, 17B are formed in a shape symmetrical relating to a line in a fitting direction of passing an axial center of the support shaft 16. In a state that the lever 30 is placed in an unfitted attitude, a cam groove 36 in an inner side surface of both leg parts 32 is engaged with a protrusion of a male housing, and from this state, when the lever 30 is turn-operated, the male housing is relatively pulled relating to the female housing 10, to fit both the housings when the lever 30 leads to a fitted attitude. When the lever 30 is turned in an unfitting direction from a fitting state, by engaging the cam groove 36 with the protrusion, the male housing is moved so as to go away from the female housing 10.

Usually, when the male and female housings are fitted to each other, a fitting resistance is generated due to a frictional force due to elastic contact between the male and female terminal fittings mounted on both housings. In particular, a connector having a large number of poles has a large fitting resistance. However, in the lever-type connector, the "levering action" allows a large fitting force to be generated even with a small operating force, so that the fitting operation can be easily performed.

In the lever type connector, the mounting posture of the lever with respect to the housing is predetermined because of the engagement between the cam groove and the protrusion. Therefore, for example, when the lever-type connector is mounted in a narrow space and the mounting posture is restricted, there is a possibility that a sufficient empty space cannot be secured around the area where the lever rotates. . In such a case, it becomes difficult to operate the lever, and workability deteriorates.

When the male terminal fitting and the female terminal fitting are fitted together, an elastic contact piece (not shown) provided inside the female terminal fitting.
Since the tabs (not shown) of the male terminal fittings are clamped by the elastic force of, the contact pressure causes a fitting resistance for each terminal fitting, and these fitting resistances cause a moment around the support shaft 16 to be male. It will occur between the housing and the female housing 10. This moment is due to the position where the tab is clamped in the female terminal fitting, the state of the arrangement of the female terminal fitting, and the strength of the clamping force of the elastic contact piece when different types of terminal fittings are used. It depends on various conditions. Therefore, in this embodiment, considering these various conditions,
The terminal fittings are distributed on both sides of the axis of the support shaft 16,
Moreover, the position of the support shaft 16 is set relative to the arrangement of the terminal fittings so that the moment generated by fitting the terminal fittings arranged on one side and the moment created by fitting the terminal fittings arranged on the other side are balanced. Is set to. Since the position of the support shaft 16 is determined so that the moments are balanced in this way, when the male housing and the female housing 10 are fitted together, a moment around the support shaft 16 does not occur between the two housings, and both housings are not generated. Are fitted so as to move in parallel while facing each other. Further, in FIG. 3, the height of the axis of the support shaft 16 is approximately the same as the thickness from the uppermost cavity 11 to the upper surface of the female housing 10 and the thickness from the lowermost cavity 10 to the lower end surface of the female housing 10. The position is slightly higher than the center of the height of the female housing 10 that does not include the protrusion 15 in the case of. In view of this, in the present embodiment, the fact that the axis of the support shaft 16 and the center of the height of the female housing 10 are misaligned is used to provide the protrusion 15 for preventing reverse fitting with the male housing, on the upper surface of the female housing 10. It is provided on the side and is set so that the center of the height of the female housing 10 including the protruding portion 15 and the height of the axis of the support shaft 16 coincide with each other.
