紙巻煙草の吸い殻でも、煙草の葉と共にフィルター部が
生分解することで、原形がなくなり最終的には土中のバ
クテリアの作用で二酸化炭素と水にまで分解する、環境

であることが好ましい。L体とD体とのモル比が98/
2以上ではポリ乳酸は結晶性であり、繊維配向時にも結
晶化が進み、生分解速度が著しく低下する。また、L体
とD体のモル比が90/10以下では、繊維配向処理を
してもポリ乳酸は非結晶のままであり、繊維の強度が不
足し、フィルター自体を得ることが難しい。本発明のフ
ィルターは、上記ポリ乳酸を0.8〜16デニールに連
続繊維化し、2,000〜100,000本集めトウと

ない。 実施例1 L体/D体のモル比が93/7であるポリ乳酸を原料と
した単繊維を用いて煙草フィルターを試作した。すなわ
ち、単繊維6デニール、総デニール40,000、レギ
ュラー断面を有する上記ポリ乳酸繊維のトウを煙草用フ
ィルター製造機により拡幅開繊し、ライスペーパーにて
円柱上に巻きプラグを作成した。得られたプラグを長さ
17mmに切断し、煙草煙フィルターとして使用する場
合の通気抵抗および繊維の充填量を測定した。次に市販
煙草ハイライトのフィルター部分を除去し、その代わり
に上記で作成したフィルターを装着し、ニコチン、ター
ル除去率を測定すると共に香喫味をモニターした。ま
た、このものをハイライトをコントロールとしてコンポ
スト化し、生分解性を調べた。表1はハイライトとの比
較において、これらの結果をまとめたものである。表1
より、本発明のフィルターは通気抵抗、タール除去率、
ニコチン除去率、香喫味は市販煙草と殆ど変わらないに
も拘わらず、市販煙草より優れた生分解性を示すことが
