Abstract

PURPOSE: To connect a lead wire to a metallic terminal without soldering by retaining the lead wire in the retention part of the metallic terminal, and press- fitting the metallic terminal and the lead wire into a press-fitting mold under this condition. CONSTITUTION: A retention part 6 is made by bending the tip of a retaining member (metallic terminal) 1 (for example, spring material consisting of phosphor bronze, for example, about 0.25-0.5mm thick, and a lead wire 3 is pushed into this retention part 6 and is nipped elastically. A press-fitting mold 2 consisting of hard material such as metal or the like and having a U-shaped recess 5 is manufactured, and the metallic terminal 1 for nipping the lead wire 3 elastically is pushed into this recess 5 from the arrow direction and is set completely, thus the lead wire 3, the metallic terminal 1, and the press-fitting mold 2 are brought into strong contact with one another. Hereby, the manufacture cost of the electric product using the connection structure between the lead wire 3 and the metallic terminal 1 can be reduced.

Conventionally, such a soldering work requires a long time, and the amount of solder at this time cannot be controlled sufficiently, so that the lead wire is inclined and an insulation distance from other parts is secured. Difficulty, additional work such as twisting or inserting the lead wire into the terminal occurs, and pre-processing such as rounding the tip of the lead wire is required, which causes thermal deformation of the connection part due to soldering. Since the stress is applied to the terminal, the terminal position is displaced.

As described above, in the connection structure of the lead wire and the metal terminal of the present invention, the metal terminal and the lead wire are press-fitted into the press-fitting molded body while the lead wire is held in the holding portion of the metal terminal. Therefore, the following excellent effects can be obtained. (1) The lead wire, the metal terminal, and the press-fitted molded body are in strong contact with each other, and these can be electrically well connected. (2) It is not necessary to pre-process the tip of each lead wire. (3) Soldering work becomes unnecessary, thermal deformation due to it is eliminated, and management of the amount of solder becomes unnecessary. (4) There is no deviation of the terminal position due to the conventional lead baring. (5) Since the metal terminal holding the lead wire is fixed to the press-fitting molded body, it is easy to control the insulation distance from other parts. (6) The manufacturing cost of an electric product using the connection structure of the lead wire and the metal terminal is reduced. (7) A plurality of lead wires can be connected to one metal terminal. (8) It does not depend on the strength (diameter, etc.) of the lead wire.
