Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the ball repulsive force and flying distance and enlarge the sweet area while a shallow face is held, relieve the metallic sound emitted at the time of impact, and save the use of expensive materials by filling the cavity in the club head with a compressed gas. CONSTITUTION: The head 2 of a golf club 1 has a cavity 2a, which is filled with a compressed gas 3. The gas may be air, while the hollow head 2 is made of an alloy. Because of filling of the head cavity with compressed gas, the gas pressure from the inside applies even though a shallow face is adopted, and the bowing phenomenon generated in the face at the time of impact does not become excessively large, and also, because restorage from the bowing is faster than hopping-out of the ball, the ball striking force increases, and it is possible to increase the ball repulsive force and flying distance with a sufficient sense of mass. Further it is practicable to lessen the thickness of the face.

2. Description of the Related Art A golf club having a head with a hollow inside is widely used in order to disperse the weight of the head to the periphery and realize a wide (sweet) area. However, there are still some issues to be considered such as repulsive force of ball, selection and processing of material for producing flight distance, setting of thickness, weight adjustment and removal of metallic noise. Some of them are made of urethane foam, etc., filled in the inner cavity for weight adjustment that also functions as reinforcement and removal of metallic noise at impact.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and it is a shallow face, which increases the repulsive force and flight distance of a ball and expands the sweep area.
