Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a two-color light emitting segment type LED capable of displaying itself as yellow in good balance by arranging a red LED chip in the middle and also arranging green LED chips in both end parts. CONSTITUTION: The two-color light emitting segment type LED is composed of seven segments 2. Then, the green LED chip 6, the red LED chip 5 and again the green LED chip 6 are arranged in each segment 2 along its longitudinal direction. In other words, the red LED chip 5 is arranged in the middle, and the green LED chips 6 are arranged in both end parts. By such an arrangement, since red is displayed in the middle, and green is displayed above and below this red respectively, red is not particularly conspicuous, and hence good balanced display as yellow can be attained. Although three chips in this case, more than three chips with the red in the middle can also be arranged. Moreover, red and green are given for instance, but other two colors in the case of their different luminance may also be applicable.

Generally, in an LED, the brightness of red is higher than the brightness of green.

Yellow, which is a composite color of red and green, can now be displayed in a well-balanced manner.

[Claims] 1. A two-color light emitting segment type LED, wherein a green light emitting LED chip, a red light emitting LED chip and a green light emitting LED chip are arranged in this order along the longitudinal direction of each segment.
