Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a tape measure which allows a line to be easily drawn without shift by providing pin holes at graduations with appropriate intervals and fixing the graduations to an underlying plate or wall with pins passed through the pin holes. CONSTITUTION: A tape measure is a measuring device for measuring a length with graduations 1, while it can be used as a simple ruler for drawing a line. Pin holes 4 are provided on the graduations 1 with appropriate intervals (every 1cm for example), and when drawing a line, a pin 3 such as a thumbtack is passed through the pin hole 4 to fix the graduation to an underlying plate or wall. Thus, when a long line is to be drawn with the tape measure used, holding the measure need not be repeated, or when a lateral line is to be drawn against a vertical wall, no shift due to swing of the measure by its weight may occur so that the line can be easily drawn. In addition, with one of the pin holes 4 fixed by the pin 3, a tip of a writing implement such as a pencil is inserted into another pin hole 4 and rotated, whereby a circle can be drawn with the measure serving as a compass.

Description

The present invention relates to a tape measure, which is generally known as a length measuring tool. The tape measure is a measuring tool for measuring the length on the scale portion 1, but it can also be used as a simple ruler for drawing a straight line. Especially, if the scale part 1 is made of steel, a clean straight line can be drawn. However, when a long line such as 1 meter or 2 meters is drawn, the scale portion 1 is divided several times and re-pressed with a finger to draw the line, so that a deviation easily occurs.
