PURPOSE: To secure capacity of a scavenging chamber sufficient to satisfy engine performance by penetrating cylinder head fixing bolts through the inside of recessed parts formed on an inside surface of the scavenging chamber. CONSTITUTION: Recessed parts 12 recessed in the vertical direction, that is, in the stroke direction of a piston from an inside surface of a scavenging chamber 4, are provided, and bolts 10 are penetrated here. Scavenging ports 3 are arranged aside to the upper side of the scavenging chamber 4, and by being constituted in this way, even if the scavenging ports 3 are bored in the diameter direction of cylinder liners 2, a scavenging inflow running toward upper parts of the cylinder liners 2 is obtained. When the scavenging ports 3 are opened aside to the lower side of the scavenging chamber 4, a downward scavenging inflow is obtained. Therefore, since the bolts themselves do not project to a space of the scavenging chamber, sufficient capacity of the scavenging chamber can be secured, and scavenging efficiency of an engine can be further enhanced without causing a turbulent flow in an air flow of the scavenging chamber.

の近傍に配置させてあるので、掃気室4の空間に隆起し
たような状態でボス部11を形成し、このボス部11に
ボルト10を貫通させてある。

ことなく挙動し、エンジンの性能を満足するだけの十分
な掃気室の容量を確保する必要があるにもかかわらず、
この従来技術であれば、図示のような構造であるから、
これらの重要項目が実現できないという問題がある。

続されている。図2において、掃気ポ−ト3は掃気室4
の上側に片寄せて配置してあり、こうすることによっ
て、掃気ポ−ト3がシリンダライナ2の直径方向に明け
られていてもシリンダライナ2の上方に向かう掃気流入
が得られる。また、図示していないが、この掃気ポ−ト
3を掃気室4の下側に片寄せて開口させておくと、今度
は、下向きの掃気流入が得られる。なお、実施例のエン
ジンは水冷式であり、符号14はそのためのウオ−タジ
ャケットを示している。また、符号15は掃気室4の内
面を示しており、この内面はシリンダライナ2に沿った
円筒面の形態とされている。

るものであるから、ボルトの位置すなわちボルトピッチ
を拡大せずに対応することが可能となり、前述の「密着
シ−ル性」や「結合剛性」面の問題を回避することが出
来るとともに、エンジン全体をコンパクトに構成するこ
とができる。
