Abstract

PURPOSE:To sufficiently develop the function of a pad retainer by exceedingly preventing the interference between a frictional pad and a pad retainer by installing the pad retainer in a shiftable manner in the disc radial direction and the disc axis direction by a screw means. CONSTITUTION:Since the boss part 2f of a retainer installation hole 14 is projected higher than the plate thickness of the installation piece 13c of a pad retainer 13, the pad retainer 13 can shift the gap portion which is generated by subtracting the thickness of the installation piece 13c from the boss part 2f towards the disc axis direction. Since the through hole 13d of the installation piece 13c has the larger diameter than the boss part 2f, the pad retainer 13 can shift the gap of the large diameter portion of the through hole 13d in the disc radial direction. Accordingly, each pad retainer 13 is prevented from being applied with the forcible tightening of a fitting screw 18, and installed in a shiftable state in the disc axis direction and the disc radial direction, the deformation of the pad retainer 13 and the fixation in a tilt state can be prevented, even if error exists at the working position of a female screw hole 15.

In these disc brakes, the working portions of the caliper body connected by the bridge portion are arranged on both sides of the disc rotor, and the torque receiving surfaces of the working portions of the working portions face the entry side and the exit side of the disc. Forming a pad mounting recess between both torque receiving surfaces, arranging a friction pad in each pad mounting recess, laying a pad retainer on each torque receiving surface, and braking with the pad retainer. While guiding the friction pad in the direction of the disc axis,
The braking torque from the friction pad is supported between itself and the torque receiving surface.

The pad retainer includes a separate type which is independently mounted on each of the four torque receiving surfaces,
There is an integral type in which two adjacent discs are sandwiched between the disc entry and exit sides with the disc rotor sandwiched between them. The former disc brake shows an integral pad retainer. A typical pad retainer, such as the former pad retainer, is formed of a thin metal plate such as a stainless steel plate, and a plurality of locking claws protruding from the side edges are elastically locked at appropriate places on the caliper body. Mounted on the body.

By the way, in recent disc brakes,
It is known to use a lightweight aluminum alloy for the caliper body to reduce the weight of the vehicle body and reduce the unsprung load.
Since the back plate of the friction pad is made of a steel plate that is harder than aluminum alloy, if you repeatedly use the former disc brake in a race etc., excessive braking torque from the friction pad will occur.
The torque receiving surface of the caliper body is applied to the caliper body through the thin pad retainer, which causes inconveniences such as indentations on the soft torque receiving surface and deformation of the pad retainer.

Therefore, it is conceivable to form the pad retainer to a thickness that can withstand deformation even when a large braking torque is applied from the friction pad. However, in the thick plate pad retainer, the locking claws are made to have elastic force. Since it is difficult to assemble it to the caliper, the latter disc brake pad retainer has a mounting piece that extends on each pad retainer and is evenly attached to the two surfaces, the disc circumferential direction and the disc axial direction. It is fixed with a set screw to the retainer mounting surface of the caliper body that tilts at an angle.

However, when fixing the pad retainer with a set screw, if there is a manufacturing error in processing on the caliper body side such as the processing position of the female screw hole for screwing, the set screw will be damaged. The pad retainer may be distorted by tightening and fixing, or the pad retainer may be inclined and fixed without being brought into close contact with the torque receiving surface. And
Part of the pad retainer protrudes into the pad mounting recess to restrict the space between the pad mounting recesses, causing the friction pad and the pad retainer to interfere with each other and hindering the movement of the friction pad that moves in the disc axial direction during braking. When the brake is released, the friction pad cannot be fully pulled back from the disc rotor, which may cause uneven wear of the lining and dragging noise. These problems are noticeable in the integrated type with a long mounting span. Was there.

Therefore, the present invention can prevent the friction between the friction pad and the pad retainer as much as possible, regardless of the thickness of the pad retainer and the material of the caliper body, and can fully exert the function of the pad retainer. Intended to provide brakes.

According to this structure, the pad retainer is attached in a floating state in the disk axial direction and the disk radial direction, including manufacturing errors such as the pad retainer, the torque receiving surface, and the pitch of the female screw hole. Since the pad retainer is not subjected to the forced tightening of the set screw, the free shape of the pad retainer that has been formed is not deformed by a manufacturing error or is fixed by being tilted. And
If a part of the pad retainer protrudes into the pad mounting recess, the protruding part of the pad retainer is pushed outward by the friction pad assembled in the pad mounting recess, and the pad retainer keeps its free shape by molding. As it is, the torque receiving piece is corrected to a regular position where it is in close contact with the torque receiving surface.

The outer side of the torque receiving piece 13a in the radial direction of the disk is tapered outward in conformity with the shape of the opening of the ceiling opening 16 on the disk entry side or the exit side, and the friction pad 10 is fixed to the ceiling. The pad 16 can be easily inserted from the opening 16 into the pad mounting recess 9. Further, the mounting piece 13c has a through hole 13d and a retainer mounting hole 1
4 has a larger diameter than the boss 2f and has a set screw 1 described later.
8 is smaller in diameter than the head portion of the pad retainer 8, and the pad retainer 13 loosely fits the through hole 13d into the boss portion 2f,
The mounting piece 13c is housed in the retainer mounting hole 14, and the torque receiving piece 13a is attached to the torque receiving surface 2e and the ceiling opening 16.
While continuously laying on the disk entry side or the exit side of the set, the male screw 18b of the set screw 18 is screwed into the female screw hole 15 of the boss portion 2f, and the set screw 18 is attached to the tip surface of the boss portion 2f.
The heads 18a are closely attached to each other and the attachment pieces 13c are prevented from coming off, so that they can be attached to the caliper halves 2a and 2b without coming off.

Since the boss portion 2f of the retainer mounting hole 14 is projected higher than the plate thickness of the mounting piece 13c of the pad retainer 13 as described above, the pad retainer 13 is formed.
However, the boss portion 2f can be moved in the disc axial direction by a gap obtained by subtracting the thickness of the mounting piece 13c, and the through hole 13d of the mounting piece 13c has a larger diameter than the boss portion 2f. Since it is a hole, the pad retainer 13 can also move in the radial direction of the disk through the large-diameter gap of the through hole 13d.

In this way, each pad retainer 13 is mounted in a floating state so as to be movable in the disc axial direction and the disc radial direction without being forcibly tightened by the set screw 18. Even if there is a manufacturing error in the processing position and the like, the free shape of the pad retainer 13 that has been formed is not deformed or fixed by being tilted. However, depending on the position of the center of gravity of the pad retainer 13, the torque receiving piece 13a may be separated from the torque receiving surface 2e, the entire pad retainer 13 may be tilted, etc. Although it may project to the mounting recessed portion 9, when the friction pad 10 is mounted to the pad mounting portion 9, the protruding portion of the pad retainer 13 is pushed outward by the friction pad 10, and the pad retainer 13 causes the torque receiving piece 13a to generate the torque. It is corrected to a regular mounting position that is in close contact with the receiving surface 2e.

As a result, the pad retainer 13 can be clamped and fixed in a deformed state as in the conventional case, and the space between the pad mounting recesses 9 is not narrowly restricted.
The interference between 0 and the pad retainer 13 is prevented. Therefore, the friction pad 10 at the time of braking can be guided well in the disc axial direction, and the friction pad 1 at the time of releasing the braking can be obtained.
Since 0 can be sufficiently pulled back from the disc rotor 3, the lining 11 is not unevenly worn or an unpleasant dragging noise is not generated, and the friction pad 10 can be easily replaced.

In the vehicle disc brake of the present invention, since the pad retainer is attached by the screw means so as to be movable in the disc radial direction and the disc axial direction, there is a manufacturing error in the machining position of the female screw hole or the like. However, the pad retainer can be attached to the proper position without being deformed or fixed by being inclined. As a result, the pad retainer is not clamped and fixed in a deformed state as in the conventional case, and the gap between the pad mounting recesses is not restricted so that the friction pad and the pad retainer are prevented from interfering with each other. This will allow good guidance in the disc axis direction. Further, since the friction pad at the time of releasing the braking can be sufficiently pulled back from the disc rotor, uneven wear of the lining and unpleasant dragging noise are prevented, and the friction pad can be easily replaced. Further, in the present invention, the pad retainer can be used for both thin and thick plates, and the material of the caliper body is not selected.
