Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent that a connector is assembled on a base plate in leaving the fitting of both first and second connector elements being incomplete as well as in a state that both first and second lead wires are not conducted with each other intact, and further forwarding the assembly operation of an air bag module, from occurring. CONSTITUTION: A connector 1 is supported on one side of a base plate 10 by means of a pair of holding arm pieces 11. In this case, the connector 1 and these paired holding arm pieces 11 are not engaged with each other unless both first and second connector elements 3 and 5 themselves are completely fitted with each other and an overall length L1 of the connector 1 is set to be less than an interval DL between both first and second keep arm pieces 12 and 13. Accordingly, insofar as the connector 1 and these arm pieces 11 are not engaged with each other, an engaging arm 29 installed in a cover member 15 and an engaging projection formed in the second keep arm piece 13 are not engaged with each other. In addition, barring an engagement between the engaging arm 29 and the engaging projection, a projection 31 formed in the cover member 15 interferes with the air bag module, disabling the assembly operation of this air bag module.

2. Description of the Related Art In order to construct an air bag device, a unit called an air bag module is supported on a portion such as a central portion of a steering wheel which an occupant faces. In the event of a collision, the working gas is discharged by energizing the inflator incorporated in the airbag module to inflate the airbag also incorporated in the airbag module. The airbag module is pre-assembled in a factory other than the automobile assembly factory, and is mounted on the central portion of the steering wheel or the like in the automobile assembly factory. Therefore, when the airbag module is assembled to the central portion of the steering wheel or the like to configure the airbag device, it is necessary to connect the conducting wire provided on the airbag module side and the conducting wire provided on the vehicle body side. However, in the conventional structure, the fitting of the first and second connector elements 3 and 5 forming the connector 1 is incomplete, and the first and second conductive wires 2 and 4 are not formed.
Even if they were not electrically connected to each other reliably, the connector 1 and the conductors 2 and 4 could be held on the mounting plate, and the airbag module could be mounted on the mounting plate. In this state, the inflator in the airbag module is not energized even in the event of a collision, and the airbag device does not operate normally. Figure 21
In the lock mechanism attached to the structure shown in FIG. 2, after the first and second connector elements 3 and 5 are completely fitted, the fitting of these both connector elements 3 and 5 becomes incomplete. This can be prevented, but if the fitting is incomplete from the beginning, there is no function to detect or correct this incompleteness.

Further, in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 6-247258, whether or not a connector attached to a retractor device for a seat belt is completely connected can be easily visually observed from the outside by movement of a seat belt (webbing). The structure that can be confirmed is described. The structure described in this publication has a connector case capable of accommodating a connector and a lock lever for holding the connector in a connected state. The connector case has a lid, and the lid can be closed when the lock lever is rotated to the lock position.
When the lock lever is at the unlock position and the lid does not close, the lid interferes with the seat belt.

In the case of the structure described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 6-247258, it can be easily determined whether or not the connector locking device is set after the assembly is completed.
It is possible to proceed with the assembly work while the connection of the connector is incomplete. In order to prevent the occurrence of connection failure of the connector more reliably, it is preferable to prevent the assembly work from proceeding with the connection failure. The wiring connector holder of the airbag module of the present invention is invented in view of such circumstances.

When the wiring connector holder of the air bag module of the present invention constructed as described above is used, the connector in which the first and second connector elements are fitted in advance is
Hold the arms. At this time, unless the first and second connector elements are sufficiently (completely or close to) fitted to each other, the axial length of this connector has a first holding arm piece and a second holding arm piece. Will be larger than the interval between.
In this state, both ends of the connector in the axial direction interfere with the tip edges of the first and second restraining arm pieces, so that the connector cannot be brought close to the board and the connector may be held by the holding arm pieces. Can not. As a result, the connector cannot be attached to the substrate while the first and second connector elements are incompletely fitted to each other. On the contrary, if the first and second connector elements are sufficiently fitted together, the axial length of this connector becomes smaller than the distance between the first holding arm piece and the second holding arm piece. Therefore, both ends of the connector in the axial direction do not interfere with the tip edges of the first and second restraining arm pieces. As a result, the connector can be brought close to the board, and the connector can be held by the holding arm piece.

When holding the connector on the holding arm,
The lid member is rotated so that the lid member does not cover the space between the first and second restraining arm pieces. After holding the connector on the holding arm piece, the lid member is rotated in the opposite direction, and the lid member covers the connector located between the first and second holding arm pieces. Further, the tip portion of the lid member is engaged with either the first or second restraining arm piece or the engaging portion on the substrate. As a result, a part of the lid member does not interfere with the airbag module, and the airbag module can be mounted on the mounting plate.

When the connector is not completely inserted between the first and second restraining arm pieces due to improper connection of the connector or the like, the tip portion of the lid member is set to one of the restraining arm pieces. Alternatively, it cannot be engaged with the engaging portion on the substrate. In this state, the airbag module and a part of the lid member interfere with each other, and the airbag module cannot be mounted on the mounting plate. Similarly, even if the connector is completely inserted between the first and second holding arm pieces, the tip of the lid member is engaged with any one of the holding arm pieces or the engaging portion on the substrate. If it is forgotten, the airbag module and a part of the lid member interfere with each other and the airbag module cannot be mounted on the mounting plate.

As a result, according to the wiring connector holder of the air bag module of the present invention, the work of assembling the air bag device becomes impossible unless the constituent members are properly assembled. As a result, it is possible to completely eliminate the possibility that the assembly of the airbag device will be completed even if the connection of the connector is poor, and the reliability of the airbag device can be improved without providing a costly device such as a monitoring circuit. Can be improved.

When the connector holder 9 of the present invention constructed as described above is used, the first conductors 2 and 2 are preliminarily arranged between the first holding arm pieces 12 and 12, as shown in FIG. Insert the first connector element 3 into the first and second restraining arm pieces 1.
It is installed between 2 and 13. Then, as shown in FIGS. 13 to 14, the first connector element 3 and the second connector element 5 constituting the connector 1 are connected in a state in which the lid member 15 is rotated around the pivot 24. . At the time of connection work, this connector 1 is present at the position indicated by the chain line a in FIG.
Then, in this way, both the first and second connector elements 3,
The connector 1 to which 5 is connected is brought closer to the substrate 10 from the state of the chain line a in FIG. 14 to the state of the chain line b and c to the state of the chain line d. Thus, in the process of bringing the connector 1 close to the substrate 10, the connector 1 is
It is held by the pair of holding arm pieces 11, 11 formed on one surface of the substrate 10 in the process as shown in (C). On this occasion,
Unless the first and second connector elements 3 and 5 are sufficiently (completely or close to) fitted together, as shown in FIG. 9, the axial length L 1 ′ of the connector 1 is Inner side surface 20 of the end face restraint plate portion 17 that constitutes the restraint arm piece 12

In any case, the connector 1 is used to hold the arm 1
In the state where the first and second conductors 1 and 11 are held,
The four are in a state of being surely conducted through the first and second connector elements 3 and 5. Further, the connector 1 is displaced in a direction away from the substrate 10 because the peripheral edges of the first connector element 3 and the hook portions 14 and 14 provided at the tip portions of the pair of holding arm pieces 11 and 11. Is blocked by engagement with.
Further, the axial displacement of the connector 1 is prevented by the engagement between the inner side surfaces 20 and 21 of the end face suppressing plate portions 17 and 19 and the end face of the connector 1. Therefore, the connector 1
Is firmly held on the substrate 10 with the first and second conducting wires 2 and 4 being surely conducted to each other.
