Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out both direct illumination and indirect illumination with sufficient illuminance by a single light source by making a part or all of the upper face and the lower face of a casing in which the light source is stored be composed of light transmissive members and making the surface area of the lower face smaller than the surface area of the upper face among the members. CONSTITUTION: A long light source, e.g. a straight tubular fluorescent lamp, etc., is installed in a casing 10 having a nearly trigonal prism shape and composed of an upper plate 11, a pair of right and left side plates, a back plate 13, and a lower plate 14. Parts of the plate 11 and the plate 14 are composed as light transmissive parts 11a, 14a made of a light transmissive acrylic resin material and the part 11a of the plate 11 is made to be wider than the part 14a of the plate 14. Moreover a reflective plate 21 is set near the light source and composed of a first reflective part 21a in the front upper side of the light source, a second reflective part 21b in the front lower side, a third reflective part 21c in the rear upper side, and a fourth reflective part 21d in the rear lower side. As a result, the obtained luminaire can be used for both direct illumination which needs relatively a large quantity of light and indirect illumination which needs a small quantity of light by only one light source.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in addition to direct lighting for directly illuminating a room or the like, indirect lighting for exerting a production effect has been widely used. The lighting equipment for indirect lighting has been devised in terms of the material and arrangement of the translucent member so that the light from the light source does not directly hit the eyes of the person and is radiated toward the wall or ceiling. . Also, a mechanism for adjusting the illuminance has been proposed. Also in the washroom space, it is widely desired to use indirect lighting in order to improve habitability.

However, as a conventional lighting device for indirect lighting, a dedicated lighting device is used, and a lighting device that can be used as direct lighting has not been proposed yet. This is because direct lighting requires a relatively large illuminance to illuminate the entire room, whereas indirect lighting conversely diminishes the effect when the illuminance is large, and the functions required for both are exactly opposite. This is because. In addition, structurally, even for lighting fixtures that can be used as both direct and indirect lighting, the ratio of the amount of irradiation to the wall or ceiling to the amount of irradiation to the room is uniquely determined, and it depends on the user's preference and situation. There has not yet been proposed anything that can adjust the irradiation amount of direct lighting and indirect lighting.

In particular, since the washroom space is not generally large, it is often difficult in space to install a lighting device for indirect illumination on a wall or the like in addition to the vanity, which is an indirect illumination in the washroom. Is a major reason why it has not been widely adopted. Further, there has been proposed such that a part of light from a lighting device provided on the upper part of the vanity is reflected upward to be used as indirect illumination (for example, JP-A-63-1).
96235, etc.), the amount of light is small, so that an illuminance sufficient to illuminate the entire washroom space cannot be obtained, and it is necessary to separately install a lighting fixture on the ceiling or the like.
