2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, marking of a golf ball is carried out by a direct printing method such as a pad printing method, a transfer method of stamping with a solid solid transfer foil, or a method disclosed in JP-A-53-63137. There is known a thermal transfer printing method in which a transfer foil in which a transfer ink layer having an arbitrary pattern is formed on an arbitrary film is used for printing. Further, in JP-A-57-69087, a nitrified cotton / alkyd resin is used as a main resin, a pigment or a dye is used as a colorant, and a polyethylene powder, a plasticizer and a surfactant are added or dissolved in an organic solvent. A transfer foil for golf balls is disclosed in which a desired ink layer is formed on a polypropylene film with the ink thus formed.

When the direct printing method such as the pad printing method is multicolored, it is inefficient because each color needs to be dried and the working environment is adversely affected by the use of a solvent, and the image is distorted due to printing on a curved surface. Not stable. In engraving transfer using solid foil, foil breakage during transfer is difficult and burr easily occurs,
Images are also easily distorted. Also, it is not economical because only a small part of the foil is used. In the case of multiple colors, there is a drawback that alignment is difficult.

According to the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 63-63137, since a transfer foil has a release layer and an adhesive layer above and below an arbitrary marking pattern, the film is thick and burrs are easily generated. Since the conditions also require high pressure and high temperature, the golf ball, which is the substrate to be transferred, is easily damaged. JP-A-57-

In the transfer method disclosed in JP-A-58-183285, the transfer can be carried out at a lower temperature than that in JP-A-57-69087, but the temperature is as high as 160 ° C., and the biaxially oriented polypropylene ( opp)
Since wrinkles are used, heat wrinkles are still likely to occur. When transferring at a low temperature where heat wrinkles are less likely to occur, missing characters will occur. Also, the rubber pad used during transfer has a curvature of 40 mm.
Although the inner surface of the cylindrical shape is used, when a pad of such a form is used, a special jig is required for the transfer machine, the control of the pad itself is difficult, and the productivity is poor. Also, the resin used in the ink layer does not react with the urethane coating liquid in the next step, so the strength of the image area is weak.

The transfer foil will be described with reference to FIG. 1. An ink layer 2 is formed on a base film 1 to form a transfer foil 3. The base film 1 usually used for the transfer foil is polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene naphthalate,
Polyethylene terephthalate and the like are used, but it is preferable to use a biaxially oriented polypropylene (OPP) having a thickness of 12 to 50 μm in view of the ease of entering a dimple of a golf ball, proper adhesion with an ink layer, and strength during printing. preferable.

For the ink layer 2, a urethane resin having a hydroxyl value of 0.2 to 15 is used as a vehicle, and a pigment and a dye are used as a coloring agent. Urethane resin is highly flexible, can easily enter into dimples, maintains good adhesion when printing on OPP, and adheres to the surface of the golf ball, which is the substrate to be transferred, with a peeling force between the OPP and the ink layer. Greater than If the hydroxyl value exceeds 15, blocking will occur during printing and production will not be possible. If it is less than 0.2, the strength of the urethane coating solution will be reduced due to the reaction with the urethane coating solution in the later spray coating.

By using the transfer foil for a golf ball of the present invention, it becomes possible to mark the surface of the golf ball with a flat rubber pad at a low temperature. In addition, the marking part has good wettability with the coating liquid at the time of coating such as spraying in the next step, and the isocyanate in the coating liquid reacts with the hydroxyl group of the urethane resin in the ink layer to make marking with higher strength than before. It became so. The golf ball manufacturing method of the present invention uses the above-mentioned transfer foil for a golf ball to transfer a marking to the surface of the golf ball at a low temperature by a conventional method, and the marking is covered to form a two-component urethane resin on the surface of the golf ball. Since paint is applied and dried and cured, resistant marking can be easily applied to all golf balls.

Using these transfer foils, a two-component reaction is carried out between a golf ball (ball 1) having a surface of a plasma-treated ionomer resin and a golf ball (ball 2) having a surface of a plasma-treated / sandblasted ionomer resin. 1 for a ball with a urethane resin surface (ball 3)
The silicon rubber having a thickness of 2 mm and heated at 30 ° C. was pressure-transferred for 1 second. Next, a transparent urethane paint (two-component reactive urethane coating liquid) was applied by spraying to obtain a dried and cured golf ball. At this time, the coating state of the coating liquid on the marking portion during spray electrostatic coating was observed.

The following tests were conducted on the marked golf balls. First, in order to confirm the transferability of the transfer foil, it was visually judged whether or not the printed marking, that is, the ink layer was completely transferred to the golf ball. Further, it was visually judged whether the marking transferred to the golf ball was transferred without distortion.

By using the transfer foil of the present invention,
Marks could be efficiently transferred to a golf ball at low temperature with a flat rubber pad, the coating liquid did not repel during the spray coating in the next step, and the marking layer reacted with the coating liquid to obtain high-strength marking. Further, the golf ball of the present invention has excellent marking resistance, and the manufacturing method using the transfer foil makes it possible to easily provide the marking with resistance on the golf ball surface. Also, good transfer was possible on the three types of surfaces of the transferred balls.
