Next, in order to sequentially join the floor materials in the width direction, it is necessary to work on the fitting groove of the upward opening having the locking ridge protruding from one end face of the existing floor material. When the floor material is inclined obliquely downward, the fitting projecting edge portion provided on the other side end face side is fitted into the fitting groove, and the floor material is gradually slid from this state so that the other side end. The engaging groove of the downward opening formed on the lower surface of the part is engaged with the engaging ridge of the existing floor material. When the floor materials are sequentially applied in the width direction by this procedure, the fitting between the locking ridges and the locking grooves restrains the movement between the floor materials in the width direction, thereby eliminating the occurrence of a gap.

Further, in the flooring material of the present invention, the outer end wall is formed as a locking projection at the lower end portion of one side end surface of the parallel long side of the flooring material, and the outer end wall is formed upward with a constant width. Since the fitting groove of the opening is continuously provided and the fitting groove and the locking groove of the downward opening are provided on the other side end surface side, the fitting groove and the locking projection can be fitted with each other. When joining floor materials sequentially in the width direction, the floor material to be installed next should be slanted with respect to the fitting groove of the upward opening that has the locking ridge protruding from one end surface of the existing floor material. Insert the fitting projection edge portion provided on the other side end face side in the fitting groove into the fitting groove while inclining downward,
By gradually lowering the floor material from this state, the locking groove of the downward opening formed on the lower surface of the other side end can be easily engaged with the locking projection of the existing floor material,
By these engagements, the movement in the width direction between the floor materials is restrained, and it is possible to eliminate the occurrence of a gap, and it is possible to perform the floor construction with high accuracy.
