位置の台金1の側面に貼着するようにしたのは、超硬質
チップ2に近いほど振動音を吸収する効果が高く、離れ
れば離れるほどその効果が低下することによる。従っ
て、貼着する面積は、制振効果と経済性によって適宜の
面積とすれば良い。制振材を貼着するにあたっては、シ
ートもしくはテープの幅や厚みに応じた溝5を台金側面
に形成し、この溝内に貼着する。これによって、削孔中
でもシートもしくはテープが剥がれることはなく、安定
した削孔作業を行なうことが出来る。溝5を形成する際
には、深くし過ぎて台金の強度を低下させたり、逆に浅
過ぎるために被削材との摩擦で剥がれたりすることのな
いよう、シートもしくはテープの幅や厚みに応じた溝を
形成し、その溝内に貼着する。この場合、好ましくはシ
ート状もしくはテープ状の制振材が台金1の表面から突
出することなく貼着するのが良い。こうすることで削孔
中に、対象となる被削材の材料が変化しても、或いは削
孔中の摩擦力が大となってもいっそう剥がれ難くするこ
とが可能となり、より以上の安定した削孔作業を行なう
ことが出来る。但し、シート状もしくはテープ状の制振
材の厚みによっては溝5を省略し、台金側面にそのまま
貼着しても良い。
