Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a portable low cost exposure indication paper and to accurately detect the gas intensity without wetting the indication paper by a constitution wherein the elongated indication paper changing color by a specific kind of gas is covered with a transparent film, while an exposure section is formed on an edge portion thereof. CONSTITUTION:An elongated potassium iodide starch paper 2 (indication paper) that changes its color by exposure to a specific kind of gas, e.g. ozone, is covered with transparent films 1, 3 to form an exposure section 2a to be exposed to outer air on an edge portion thereof. A part 3a of the film 3 on the exposure section of the indication paper is removed. When exposing it over a prescribed period of time in the ozone gas, the gas is diffuses into the inside from the exposure section 2a so that the indication paper 2 (potassium iodide starch paper) changes color. The length of a transition interval corresponds to an amount of exposing of the ozone gas, thereby it is possible to easily detect the intensity of ozone by reading the length of the transition interval with a scale 4.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, nosocomial infections in hospitals (nosocomial infections), particularly nosocomial infections due to MRSA (Martha), have become a major social problem. In order to prevent such nosocomial infections, a disinfection device using ozone is being developed.

On the other hand, ozone has a strong sterilizing and disinfecting power, but on the other hand, ozone is a harmful gas to the human body when inhaled for a long time even in a minute amount. Therefore, when using a disinfection device using ozone, it is necessary to detect the concentration of residual ozone after use, how much ozone treatment has been performed, and the like. An ozone monitor is used to detect the concentration of ozone.

According to the above construction, by exposing the exposed portion of the gas exposure indicator paper for a predetermined time in an atmosphere of a specific type of gas, the exposed portion is exposed to the gas and the gas diffuses from one end of the indicator paper to the inside. At the same time, since the indicator paper changes color, the intensity of the gas can be easily detected by reading the length of this color change area. The gas exposure indicator paper is low in cost and extremely easy to carry because it consists only of an indicator paper and a transparent film.

Further, since the indicator paper contains an indicator that reacts with a specific type of gas and a compound that gels the indicator, the gelled indicator functions as a moisturizer.
It is not necessary to wet the indicator paper with water even for a gaseous oxidative substance, and accurate ozone strength can be detected.

In FIGS. 1 (a) and 1 (b), reference numeral 1 is a long transparent film (eg, cellophane tape) made of a material that blocks passage of ozone gas. On the transparent film 1, one piece of a long potassium iodide starch paper 2 having a width and a length shorter than that of the transparent film 1 is attached. The potassium iodide starch paper 2 is designed to change color when exposed to ozone gas. Incidentally, the potassium iodide starch paper 2 as the instruction paper is one sheet in the figure, but it may be two or more sheets.

Here, the potassium iodide starch paper 2 is a test paper that has been known for a long time and exhibits a blue-violet color with respect to a solution containing an oxidizing agent. For example, it is prepared by immersing a filter paper in 1 liter of a solution prepared by dissolving 3 g of potassium iodide and 5 g of soluble starch and drying it.

On the transparent film 1 and the potassium iodide starch paper 2, a transparent film 3 having the same shape as the transparent film 1 is attached. This transparent film 3 can be manually removed at a part (left side in the drawing) 3a during use. By removing a part 3a of the transparent film, only one end of the potassium iodide starch paper 2, that is, the exposed part 2a is exposed to the outside air.
That is, the transparent film 3 seals the potassium iodide starch paper 2 when not in use to prevent it from being exposed to ozone gas, and when used, only the exposed portion 2a of the potassium iodide starch paper 2 comes into contact with the outside air. ing.

By the way, when the strength of ozone gas is detected by using the gas exposure indicator paper, if it is directly exposed to ozone gas, the potassium iodide starch paper remains dry.
No clear bluish-purple coloration was observed, and the color changed to a slightly dark brown. For this reason, a clear blue-violet coloration is exhibited when it is wet with water.

Therefore, the present inventor, when producing potassium iodide starch paper, adds a compound that gels to potassium iodide as an indicator (polymer absorption polymer) so that the indicator functions as a moisturizer. Tried that. As a result, even a gaseous oxidizing substance shows a clear iodine starch reaction and changes color without getting wet with water, so that the ozone intensity can be accurately detected.
