Generally, when replenishing the toner from the toner cartridge to the toner replenishing device, the toner supply port of the toner containing portion and the toner replenishing port of the toner cartridge are connected in a sealed state so that the toner does not scatter to the outside. However, the means of replenishment has come to be used. At that time, the toner in the toner cartridge was supplied to the toner containing portion by hitting the outside of the toner cartridge. As the toner is supplied, the toner flows into the toner accommodating portion, but unless the amount of air corresponding to the toner replenishment amount does not flow out, the air pressure in the toner accommodating portion rises, so that the toner replenishment becomes difficult. Further, since the toner is replenished in the sealed state as described above, a part of the air in the toner storage portion enters the toner cartridge, but is blocked by the replenishing and dropping toner, and the smooth outflow of air also occurs. It is difficult and the toner cannot be replenished smoothly. In order to improve such a defect, an improved technique as disclosed in JP-A-4-473 is disclosed. That is, when the toner is replenished from the outside to the toner containing portion that supplies the toner to the developing device, an air outlet (ventilation hole) for discharging only the air corresponding to the replenishment amount of the toner from the inside of the toner replenishing portion is provided. Is solved by.

As described above, in the conventional device, the vent hole provided in the toner storage portion is provided in the developing device when dust and metallic foreign matters fall into the toner replenishing device through the vent hole. By mixing the dust and the metallic foreign matter into the developer on the developing sleeve, unevenness of the layer thickness of the developer occurs in the rotating direction of the developing sleeve. Therefore, a light white streak (a phenomenon in which the developer is not formed at a predetermined image density) occurs in the recorded image. In the recent developing method in which a DC bias and an AC voltage are superimposedly applied to the developing sleeve, the toner vibrates within the narrow developing interval due to a narrow developing interval between the photosensitive drum and the developing sleeve and a high alternating electric field. I am letting you. Under such developing conditions, when a conductive foreign substance passes through the narrow developing interval, latent image destruction occurs in a ring shape around the developing sleeve, resulting in a large image defect. Further, there is a concern that a bias potential may drop due to an overcurrent from the developing sleeve, or a malfunction of the apparatus may occur.

Further, a toner cartridge is mounted on the toner replenishing device a maximum of 200 times within the life guarantee period of the device, and the toner flows out from the vent hole.
Therefore, the toner that has flowed out from the ventilation holes stains the inside of the device,
The toner accumulates. The accumulated toner stains the hands of the user of the apparatus, or accumulates and diffuses in various parts inside the machine, causing image stains. In order to prevent the above-mentioned toner stains, it is possible to install a filter inside the ventilation hole, but clogging with the toner and exhaust response at the time of toner replenishment deteriorate, and the original image forming function The decrease and deterioration of the value became a problem.

To replenish the yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K) toners, four toner replenishing devices 40 are provided, and the developing device 14A has a toner replenishing pipe 44. The toner replenishing pipe 45 for the developing device 14B, the toner replenishing pipe 46 for the developing device 14C, and the toner replenishing pipe 47 for the developing device 14D are replenished from the toner replenishing device 40, respectively. Reference numeral 50 shown in FIG. 2 is a toner cartridge that supplies toner to the four toner supply devices 40 for yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K). On the other hand, the recording paper P, which is the transfer material fed by the paper feed mechanism 22 by the paper feed cassette 21, is formed between the photosensitive drum 10 and the transfer belt 31 by the transfer belt device 30 in which the transfer belt 31 is stretched. The multicolor image on the peripheral surface of the photosensitive drum 10 is collectively transferred to the recording paper P by being fed to the nip portion (transfer area) 35. Here, a high voltage is applied to the shaft 32a of the upstream holding roller 32 of the transfer belt 31, and the shaft 32a
The conductive brush 34, which is installed at a position opposed to the transfer belt 31 with the transfer belt 31 interposed therebetween, is grounded, and the fed recording paper P enters between the brush 34 and the transfer belt 31, and the brush 34
Due to the electric charges injected into the recording paper P, the recording paper P is attracted to the transfer belt 31 and enters the transfer area. The recording paper P separated from the photoconductor drum 10 is separated from the transfer belt 31 while being neutralized by using the shaft 33b of the holding roller 33 on the downstream side which stretches the transfer belt 31 as a counter electrode. The toner attached to the transfer belt 31 is removed by the cleaning blade 37. Note that the transfer belt 31 has a shaft 33 of the holding roller 33 on the downstream side during the formation of the multicolor image.
It is separated from the photosensitive drum 10 with b as the center of rotation.
