ヘッドに高強度で鍛造フェイスプレートを形成するた
め、前記フェイスプレートの外周部を前記本体部に結合
する手段とでゴルフクラブヘッドを構成し、前記本体部
に、前記フェイスプレート背面の大部分を占めるフェイ
スプレート背面と直接連なる第１凹所を設けたものであ
る。前述のことから明らかなように、前記本体部は、
鋼、チタニウム、銅、アルミニウム、及び、それらの合
金からなる群から選ばれた材料で構成される。また、本
発明によれば、前記凹所は、本体部及び前記フェイスプ
レートで完全に閉塞し、前記フェイスプレートの外周部
を、その全周にわたって前記凹所からずらしてループ状
に延在させるようにしたものである。また、前記本体部
に、前方に面し、前記フェイスプレートの外周部近傍を
収容するループ状の棚部を形成してある。本発明に係る
クラブヘッドは、前記フェイスプレートを、ヘッドの頂
