Abstract

Detailed Description of the Invention

This invention relates to a light-tight storage container for photographic materials, especially photosensitive sheet materials.

Conventional photographic sheet materials are shipped in cardboard boxes and stored in the box's darkroom at all times. These boxes are light-tight, made from high-grade cardboard and are therefore expensive. These boxes are not reused. Furthermore, since the same box is used for shipping and for darkroom storage, there is the risk that cardboard fibers will wear from the inside of the box and contaminate the photographic material.

Therefore, when handling photographic sheets, it is desirable to separate the transport and storage functions.

Photographic sheets can be shipped in cheap cardboard in black plastic bags or packages. Once in the dark, the sheet material is removed from its shipping box and packaging and placed in a storage container. Since the darkroom storage function is separated from the transport function, there is less risk of the sheet material contaminating the shipping container.

The present invention provides an improved light-tight storage container for photographic materials.

According to the present invention, there is provided a base having an outer peripheral margin including an outer edge portion, and an outer periphery capable of engaging with the outer margin of the base to form a light-tight container in cooperation with the base and to form an optical labyrinth.
