端パイプの先端と面一になった状態で筆記をすると紙面
を破く問題がある。そのような問題が起こらないように
触指繰り出し操作をすれば済むことではあるが、まま忘
れることがある。長い先端パイプを有した製図用のシャ
ープペンシルの場合には先端パイプがしっかり固定され
る方が利点となるが、一般の筆記に際しては欠点となる
場合が多い。

延ばすことが可能となる。又、芯が先端パイプから長く
突出した場合には、強い筆圧で芯が先端パイプと同面ま
で後退した後、筆圧を解除すると適正な芯の突出量に調
整することも可能となるなど効果は大きい。
