Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a large display area with a small housing area by adopting a structure capable of foldably housing a liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION:The separated liquid crystal display 1, is formed foldably by a folding shaft 2 and is housed by folding the display. To use, a user opens the liquid crystal display 1, inserts the folding shaft 2 into a frame 3 and fixes the liquid crystal display 1. An example of transverse two-folding of the liquid crystal display 1 is shown in Fig. Folding may be made in any plies and may be a combination of longitudinal and transverse folding. Folding the liquid crystal display 1 with the display surface on the front or on the rear is equally well. A fixing method other than a method of inserting the folding shaft 2 into the frame 3 and fixing the liquid crystal display is usable as well. As a result, even a portable apparatus is capable of having the liquid crystal display 1 having the sufficient display area.
