.. FIG. 4 illustrates an example thereof, and the developing solution supply device includes a developing roller 2 provided on the side of the photosensitive drum 1, a squeeze roller 6 provided on the developing roller 2, and these rollers. Case 5 for covering the blades and blades 4a, 4b provided so as to contact these rollers

At this time, the case 5 may be provided as in the example of FIG. 4, but as shown in FIG. 5A, a tray 8 for storing the developing solution is provided and the developing roller 2 is provided in the tray 8. It is soaked in the developer 3. However, even in this case, since the space between the photoconductor drum 1 and the plate 8 cannot be secured,
The immersion amount of the developing roller 2 is small, the fluctuation of the liquid surface is large,
Uniform supply is difficult. Also, liquid leakage may occur from the end of the dish.

[0006] Therefore, as shown in FIG. 5B, an application roller 9 is separately provided between the plate 8 and the developing roller 2, and the liquid storage section is separated from the photosensitive drum 1 to increase the immersion amount, thereby changing the liquid level. In some cases, it was suppressed.

As the developing roller 2 rotates in the direction of the arrow,
Excess developer is scraped off at the gap G 1 between the cover portion 17-3 and the developing roller 2, and a liquid film is formed on the surface of the roller, so that the developing roller 2 and the photosensitive drum 1 face each other. The image is sent to a developing section having a section and provided for development in the section.

After development, the excess liquid adhering to the developing roller 2 is scraped off by the developing blade 17-2. The scraped liquid flows through the slope of the lower casing 19-2, is discharged from the discharge port 17-4, and returns to the developer tank. Since the toner of this liquid is sufficiently moved to the photosensitive drum 1 by the development, the liquid concentration is low and the possibility of sludge formation is low. The developing solution collected in the developing solution tank is maintained at a prescribed concentration in the tank and then supplied again to the developing section.

There are various methods for controlling the liquid surface level in the developing solution supply nozzle 17, but in this example, when the liquid surface level exceeds a certain level due to variations in the developing solution supply amount, overflow occurs. A discharge port 10 for overflow is provided. Further, the developing solution discharge port 11 is provided below the developing solution supply nozzle 17 to prevent the developing solution from the developing solution supply nozzle 17 to gradually escape when the machine is stopped, and prevent sludge formation and sticking in the nozzle that occurs during long-term standing. . Both ends of the developing solution supply nozzle 17 are also in an airtight state, and when there is no fear of sticking and drying, the developing solution discharge port may not be provided with emphasis on the solution pooling time at the first copy.

As described above, in this embodiment, since the path between the developing solution supply nozzle 17 and the developing roller 2 is short and the airtightness is high, it is possible to make the developing solution concentration uniform and reduce the solvent consumption. In order to collect the developer, the upper casing 19-1 and the lower casing 19-2, which are cases of the smallest size that cover the developing roller 2 and the developer supply nozzle 17, are sufficient, and the liquid reservoir chamber 18 is substantially airtight. Therefore, there is no problem such as the occurrence of liquid leakage and the contamination of the inside of the machine due to liquid splash, which have been problems in the prior art.

Further, since the discharge port 10 is provided, the liquid level for supplying the liquid in the liquid reservoir 18 to the developing roller 2 can be easily controlled. Therefore, the developing plate as in the prior art is not required, and therefore the developing roller 2 is not required. There are no problems such as a small amount of immersion of the liquid, a large fluctuation of the liquid surface, a difficulty in uniform supply, and a liquid leakage from the end of the dish. Moreover, in this example, since the coating roller 9 is not provided unlike the prior art, there is no problem that the number of parts increases and the cost increases.

In the present embodiment, the upper casing 19-11 covers the developing roller 2 and the squeeze roller 60, and the lower casing 19-22 is located below the developing roller 2 and the developer supply nozzle 170. The casing forms a drainage port 17-44.

This example is more suitable for forming a thin liquid film on the developing roller 2 than the above example based on FIG. Therefore, the gap G 1 ′ = 50 μm at the facing portion of the squeeze roller 60 with respect to the developing roller 2, and the gap G 2 ′ = 40-about 40 μm between the developing roller 2 and the photosensitive drum 1.
It is about 50 μm.

The squeeze roller 60 rotates in contact with the liquid-phase developer layer formed on the developing roller 2, and both ends in the thickness direction of the liquid-phase developer layer, that is, on the peripheral surface of the developing roller 2 and the squeeze roller. Fluid velocities opposite to each other on the 60th circumferential surface are applied to the liquid-phase developer layer, and excess liquid-phase developer is removed from the circumferential surface of the developing roller 2 by utilizing the flow velocity distribution in the layer thickness direction.

Therefore, unlike the conventional developer film forming method using a scraper or a coating roller, the squeeze roller 60 is used.
Since the developing roller 2 and the developing roller 2 are not in contact with each other, a liquid-phase developer film having a desired thickness can be uniformly formed on the peripheral surface of the developing roller 2.

The squeeze blade 17-5 and part of the peripheral surface of the squeeze roller 60 form a liquid storage chamber 180. The developing solution 3 is discharged from the developing solution supply nozzle 170 into the solution storage chamber 180 and is controlled to have a constant level.

The developer 3 that has come into contact with the developing roller 2 in the liquid reservoir 180 forms a liquid film on the surface of the developing roller 2 and is sent to the gap G 1 ′ with the squeeze roller 60. The liquid film is squeezed into a constant liquid film by the squeeze roller 60 and sent to the photosensitive drum 1.

The liquid scraped off by the squeeze roller 60 returns to the liquid storage chamber 180 again. Similarly, the liquid adhering to the surface of the squeeze roller 60 is also returned to the liquid storage chamber 180 by the squeeze blade 17-5.

As in the example of FIG. 1, the developing solution discharge port 11 is provided below the developing solution supply nozzle 170, and the developing solution from the developing solution supply nozzle 170 gradually escapes when the machine is stopped, and occurs when left for a long time. Prevents sludge formation and sticking in the nozzle.

Both ends of the developing solution supply nozzle 170 are also airtight, and when there is no concern about sticking and drying, the developing solution discharge port may not be provided with emphasis on the solution pooling time at the first copy. This example also has the same advantage as in claim 1.

That is, since the path between the developing solution supply nozzle 170 and the developing roller 2 is short and the airtightness is high, it is possible to make the concentration of the developing solution uniform and reduce the solvent consumption. In order to collect the developer, the upper casing 19 is a case of a minimum size that covers the developing roller 2 and the developer supply nozzle 170.
-11, lower casing 19-22 is sufficient, and liquid storage chamber 180
Since it is kept almost airtight, there are no problems such as liquid leakage and contamination of the inside of the machine due to liquid splash, which have been problems in the prior art.

Since a wide casing is not required,
There are no problems such as an increase in the amount of mother liquor used as a developer due to evaporation from the casing surface, and an increase in sludge due to repeated toner adhesion and drying. Moreover, in this example, since the coating roller 9 is not provided unlike the prior art, there is no problem that the number of parts increases and the cost increases.
