May occur. The high temperature of the cylinder head cover not only adversely affects the components inside the cover, but also accelerates the deterioration of the cover, especially when the cover is made of synthetic resin.

As shown in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 52-8715, a shield consisting of a double pipe communicating with an engine water jacket is arranged around the exhaust manifold, and this shield blocks heat from the exhaust manifold. A structure for protecting the cylinder head cover from heat is known. If such a shield is provided, the cylinder head cover can be reliably protected, and the early deterioration of the cover and the influence of heat on the parts inside can be prevented.

Moreover, it is necessary to assemble such a shield when manufacturing the engine, which complicates the work. For this reason, the structure of the engine is complicated and the manufacturing cost thereof is inevitable.

Therefore, it may be difficult to secure a space for arranging the shield.

する。Configuration The present invention positively utilizes the fact that the water manifold for guiding the cooling water sent from the water jacket of the cylinder head to the radiator is located in the area between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head cover, and thus the heat insulation is performed. We propose a structure that protects the cylinder head cover from heat by integrally forming the shield on the water manifold itself.

A combustion chamber (not shown) is defined inside the cylinder block 1 and the cylinder head 2, and the burned exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chamber is shown in FIG. 1 inside the exhaust manifold 4 connected to the cylinder head 2. It flows as shown by arrow A and is discharged to the outside.

However, the cooling water that has left the water jacket of the cylinder head 2 is The water manifold 5 connected to 2 flows as shown by an arrow B, and is sent to a radiator (not shown). In this way, the water manifold 5 guides the cooling water sent from the water jacket of the cylinder head 2 to the radiator.

Further, even if the exhaust gas leaks from the seal portion 7 (FIG. 3) between the cylinder head 2 and the exhaust manifold 4, the leaked high temperature exhaust gas is shielded by the shield 6.
This gas is shut off by the cylinder head cover 3

In this way, the manufacturing cost of the engine can be reliably reduced. Moreover, since the shield 6 is formed on the water manifold 5 itself, the water manifold 5 does not eliminate the space for installing the shield, and it is not necessary to give special consideration to the space for disposing the shield 6. This greatly expands the degree of freedom in engine design.
